On this board we measure age by the number of head football coaches Auburn has had during your lifetime.

It is never too late. I am getting married for the first time and am 59. My significant other is a year older and will also be getting married for the first time. Ironically I am not sure that we would have appreciated each other if we had met when we were younger. Life offers a lot of opportunities, not just one. The relationships that start later in life have a unique set of challenges but offer a lot of genuine fulfillment.
There is someone special out there who can appreciate and value what you have to offer. I will pray that God will bring her to you when you are ready to begin again.

I don't think you are overthinking things. Life is not always a smooth progression. Things come along in chunks sometimes. We all have things that happen that just hit us hard and make us question the meaning of our existence. For me, it was the death of my significant other in 2006. He was only 36. He went to bed and died of heart failure in his sleep. The days following his death were hard. I tried to comfort his mother, got hit on by his brother at the funeral home, and kept picking up the phone to call him only to remember that he wouldn't answer. I wanted him back but felt guilty for that when I thought about the wonderful life he now has in heaven. It was 12 years before I could even consider a new relationship.
Sorry to be so long winded but you have people on this board who have been praying for you and will continue to do so. You do not go through difficult times alone. At every step you take, your Heavenly Father is there and nothing ever happens that is not filtered through His fingers of love.
I agree that naming Steven as the interim would have been a better decision.
I prefer dogs to most people. Sorry not sorry.

2 days for me and then the towel goes in the laundry
Those of us who dared to express concerns about Steven's ability to do the job were told dismissively that everything would be fine. Remember when we were a basketball school?
