Why not? It might be one of the most under appreciated aspects of his presidential legacy. If you look at how the public generally viewed the mainstream media back in 2015 vs today, it’s night and day. You say why does he do it, but the evidence clearly shows that by taking the fight to them not only at rallies, but on their own shows he’s been able to expose the corruption and bias that exists in these media outlets.

Republicans have a really bad habit of writing things off and not bothering to lift a finger to fight. The media and traditional support among minority groups are the way they are because historically Repubs just accepted it. They never took on the media to a degree to provide any sort of check on their behavior, just as they never actively pursued minority votes. Whether you think it’s a waste of time or not, it’s necessary to restore balance in this country.
