It may all be true, but like I said, if the argument is they are teaching anal sex to 5 year olds I’m gonna need more than a mom with a book claiming they are in a context free Internet clip.

Is there any context where anal sex is an ok topic of discussion between a government employee and a 5 to 10 year old child outside of a child molestation investigation?

It’s a 90 second clip of her holding up a book and making vague claims that lack context. The video in a vacuum doesn’t validate any of the OPs claims.

Umm- the cover of the book she’s holding up, is clearly the same one depicted later in this thread.

Cartoons of kids masturbating are just straight up disturbing. I’m not even sure how that got published, much less approved as a textbook to give to kids.

And furthermore- WTAF is a teacher, not a parent, doing talking to kids at any age about their sexuality. Especially ones who haven’t reached puberty? I’m sorry if you even think of a 9 yr old as a “sexual being” you’re a freak and have no business having contact with children. Much less writing children’s books. And even less being their schoolteachers.

I want off this stupid planet.

No

My point is the mom in the video doesn’t technically say what the OP says she did, and people make shite up all the time. The claim “a school is teaching 5 year olds how to have anal sex” is a rather extraordinary one, and should require some evidence before the claim itself to be believed.

This may be 100% true, but the reason this board gets duped all the fricking time by nonsense is because far too many take every claim at face value if it conforms to a certain worldview. Ask a goddamn question or two is all I’m saying

I know this is rhetorical but I think the answer is Hell No.

If the claims that a teacher was using that book in class to teach 5 year olds about its contents, yes that would be wildly inappropriate and the teacher should be fired. And if a board approved that book for that use, they should all be ousted.

I just have a hard believing on faith that a teacher was actually doing that.

Yeah that’s too much. I don’t know how that escapes obscenity laws.

Thank goodness she has not succumbed to being a 'woke' parent:

Sadly, I can no longer agree with this statement. Liberal progressive teachers have gone nuts in this country. What would have been off limits is now a “gray area.”

Hell, you are a no go on pre-pubescent sex.

What are your thoughts on the 13-16 range?

My personal thoughts are 18 is the age of majority (in spite of some laws in various states with younger age limits).

Where is your “line” for legal consent in terms of age?

Sexual consent laws are tricky because you risk criminalizing stuff like a 16 year old sophomore having sex with an 18 year old senior, or a 17 year old HS junior having sex with a 20 year old college student. I’m actually more a fan of laws dictating criminality on the basis of age differences prior to the legal age of consent (16-18 depending on the state). As for the age of consent itself, it’s completely arbitrary and I have no strong opinion. Anything from 16-18 is reasonable IMO. Sexual and emotional maturity varies so wildly at that age it’s hard to pick a single one size fits all rule.

An 18 year old having sex with a 16 year old shouldn’t be branded a sex offender for life, that’s idiotic. A 35 year old doing the same probably has some issues.

I agree.

My personal thought is 18 or older, or 17 and post high school (this can really apply to colleges etc.).

That’s not how the burden of proof works. The default position for any claim, anywhere, ever should be “they are making it up” until evidence for the claim is provided.

That the school board had approved the book for teaching to kids as young as five (per the video) isn't enough? None of the school board members denied the claim.
