why dont we just get rid of food stamps and have distribution centers.

give them basic staples. more healthy than most americans' diets.

I disagree with that. Yes, the government should stay out of our lives as much as possible. But IF you are using taxpayer dollars, the government SHOULD be watchful and setting strict limits. They owe it to the taxpayers.

Exactly. If you're not paying taxes and living off of government cheese, then in my opinion you shouldn't have the right to vote. You are employed, but guess whose your employer: me and every other tax paying citizen in this country. Since I'm now paying for you, you have to do what The other tax payers say.

Agree but liberal progressive Dems and the liberal media would scream bloody murder/discrimination. This would completely ruin their plantation system.

The gov can't run anything efficiently. That is my only problem with it. Plus you could never get the sissy libs that say food stamps (the real ones) hurt people's self-esteem to go along with it.
The government doesn't have any money of their own. Only what they take from us. If it is government run, then that means the entire store is being run with taxpayer dollars. They'd have to pay for the building, machines, overhead, workers, managers, etc.

It would make no sense. I mean, the "customers" are all paying with taxpayer dollars.

If your goal was to cut down on the costs of feeding those who cannot afford enough food, opening a government store would do the complete opposite. Not only would taxpayers be footing the bill for the food, but they'd be footing the bill for the stores and workers themselves.

It would be astronomically more expensive than the current system.

Walmart, Kroger, Coke, Pepsi, Kraft, etc.

They all have lobbyists. Government run distribution centers don't. There's way too much money to be lost by changing the food stamp program. If anything it's just going to expand.

Agreed a government run store would be the worst way to cut down costs.
