If you marry a New Orleans girl, it's damn hard to peel them away from there.

You can replace New Orleans with Memphis , Mobile and Birmingham as well in my experience. When I talk to older individuals (55+) they all really seem to want out because it depresses them to see what their cities have become. I think these young women will eventually become the same way but who knows ?!?

Jackson is already there. There’s another wave of people moving from Jackson to the Madison area.

Meh, it was more about access in 18th Century sailing vessels. The ability to access the river via the lake and Bayou St. John.

As a native New Orleanian, I never thought of, or desired to ever leave. Went to Incarnate Word, Rummel, then UNO before transferring to SLU. After graduation, was working in NOLA, then took a bigger job, but they sent me to Houston, that was the end of 1980. Never planned to stay here in Houston, got very homesick, used to drive back to NOLA about every 2-3 weeks. At first, it was major culture shock- the food, the speech, everything. But then, after years, started to get comfortable, a serious relationship with a Houston girl, so trips got less & less back to NOLA, but maintained my strong NOLA love & accent! When years turned to decades, especially over the last 15-20 years, I started to take a different look at it. To me, it became a sad, depressing place. Katrina only brought out what I already started to realize- New Orleans was no longer a place I would consider living at! When Mitch the Bitch took down the statues in NOLA, that was the final straw- I have not entered Orleans Parish since! I will visit Metairie, Kenner, etc, but I will not support a crime ridden shite- hole presided over by an incompetent mayor (looking at you, LaToya. NOLA was once a great city, my Dad said nothing was better than NOLA in the 30's-50's, but he also later saw the decline start, whereas, I guess I saw the end. Goodbye NOLA!

You are mentally ill if you think anyone respects you or anyone else for living in that AIDS infested piss drenched 3rd world shithole.
