Not in New Orleans. City Council has actually increased funding for recruitment and bonuses.

And New Orlean schools get a shatpot of money and are one of the worst public school systems in the US.

The point others have made, its not the friggin money. If you have 15 cops on every corner and one just one slaps the cuffs on the wrong person, their career is gone and they can be personally sued, their lives threatened and their families ostracized.

They havent been defunded they have been DEFANGED, and are no deterrent and the criminals know it.

. Don’t worry, the CMOs are able to ensure their bloated administrations are paid handsomely despite this.

Not really. I believe most cops are good, but how many bad ones face consequences for their harmful actions?

Random absence, parent (student) reports it.
. There would need to be documentation.

I’m in nola and I’m pretty familiar with sped and public schools here.

Define this.

In short, In an IEP, a cool down day / period is something I have often seen. Try to fight a parents word over this would be a losing battle.

Don’t fight with the parents. What’s the point? The parents can’t do much other than take their bad arse children (in this scenario) out of the school. Of course, schools get paid more for students with IEPs so they never want that to happen. Schools face consequences from BESE, LDOE and NOLA PS.

Why would they?

After ten days, the kid is untouchable, and the checks (crazy) keep rolling in. SSI for life!!!

On another note...

Did you vote for Latoya Cantrell?

You owe it to your family to steal $950/day everywhere this is allowed.

Allow business owners and associates to use lethal force against these thugs and it will cease. No police needed.

Ugh. I wish some posters here weren’t so creepy. I have so many stories. They’re all pretty heartbreaking. I don’t blame the kids who grow up in chaos, are sleep deprived, hungry and traumatized.

The first time. She was a good council person. I taught at a school in her district and planned to take my class to city hall on a field trip. I reached out to her before we went and she arranged for Mitch to “run into” my class. I thought that was so sweet and thoughtful, and a great experience and memory for my kids.

How so?

Because I asked you if you voted for Latoya?

I wish some posters weren’t so disingenuous.

As do I. I feel for them. I also support them getting every bit of assistance they can.

However, that doesn’t change the fact that there is a LARGE subset of the student population that is on the take, and will be “cared for” by the government for the rest of their lives.

Sorry, you aren’t creepy; other posters are.

I don’t mind if you ask me who I voted for. It’s not like you’d know if I’m telling the truth anyway.

Yep. It’s all they know.

True.

Nonetheless, I enjoyed the discussion.

Cheers and good night.
