Disney purposely mislabeled thousands of videos across 1,250 YouTube channels—including hits like Frozen, Toy Story, and The Incredibles—as "Not Made for Kids."
This "labeling error" wasn't a mistake;
it was a back door that allowed Disney to harvest "persistent identifiers" (cookies and device IDs) from children under 13 to serve high-profit targeted ads. But the real smoking gun? YouTube actually warned Disney as early as mid-2020 that their videos were misclassified. Instead of fixing the problem, Disney reportedly ignored the warning for four more years to keep the ad revenue flowing.
