It seems like the argument can be made that masks make the chance of getting Covid worse. I've seen graphs that show Covid cases increasing after the implementation of mask mandates. Since the Covid virus is aerosolic and is smaller than the holes of most masks, wearing a mask creates a pressure drop through the mask and increases the velocity at which Covid viruses are sucked into our lungs. It's no different than putting an attachment on the bottom of a vacuum cleaner hose with a smaller hole in it. You get more suction when you decrease the hole size. Essentially we are putting a vacuum cleaner on our face. it doesn't seem like the right thing to do with a small, arosolic virus. Social distancing yes, masks no.
