Me too- I always felt we needed a more moderate Pope, but Francis is everything we don't need today! He comes off as a puppet for everything anti-American.

The old woman next to the asian woman had him by the wrist first. Then the asian woman grabbed his hand, resulting in a double pulling action. So it was two women pulling on him, not one, that caused the Pope's reaction. So the asian woman wasn't being rough and grabby as the the Pope thought. It was an honest and understandable mistake.

Nobody, and I mean NOBODY, -even the Pope- wants to be grabbed, poked, prodded, touched over and over again. You wouldn't like it. Besides, she laid her hands on him first.

You guys going to great lengths to knight for your Vicar is amazing.
You don't need him and you don't need Mary.
Jesus bridged the gap between man and God. Your church doesn't want to lose that cash cow.

I don’t see anyone in this thread doing anything other than pointing out the faux outrage over the “slap” and discussing the importance of the Bishop of Rome, not to be confused with Francis, himself.

You’re right. And Catholics don’t worship either.

Is this an argument against all organized Christian religions? Because that’s what it sounds like.

You count them higher than yourselves and there is no denying that.
We are all equal sinners and no man can tell me what to do to ask forgiveness for my sins.

Define higher than myself. The Pope is human. He’s a sinner like all of us.
If you’d like to argue Mary’s absence of original sin or her assumption into heaven...fine.

Not sure what this has to do with anything we're discussing since no person is telling me what to do to ask for forgiveness for my sins.

I’m asking you to define higher than myself.
In terms of what? Leadership structure in the Catholic Church, yes the Pope is “higher” than a lay person like myself. But that’s no different than your local church pastor and a member of the congregation.
As an individual “higher” than me in the path to God? Nope.

You walk into a chamber and confess your sins. Then a sinner tells you what you must do to atone for those sins.
That means you believe people bridge the gap between you and God.

1. You don’t have to walk into a chamber. The Sacrament of Reconciliation can be heard anywhere.
2. John 20:19-23
3. Absolution is administered by God through the intercession of the Priest. There is no requirement or order from the Priest to atone for the sins. As long as the penitent as offered an honest Confession and Contrition, the Sacrament has occurred following the absolution.

Funny
I just say "hey God, I fricked up"
God: Ok, Son.
Posted on 1/2/20 at 1:28 am to MrLarson
And that’s fine. If you noticed, I’ve never argued against your belief.

I honestly get it.
I don't live a Christian life but I respect religious beliefs. I just don't like degrees of separation between man and God created by man.
