Everything was rolling before Corona. Trump seemed unstoppable right up to November.
But then to what should have been the surprise of NOBODY, his opponents went full-throttled irrational, cynical, and absolutely played him with regard to Coronavirus. Trump shite the bed. Period.
Does he get all the blame? Nope. I never suggested that. He faces a lunatic opposition that will literally burn this country to the ground to gain power. But that doesn't mean we can't expect Trump to be smart and resolute.

Study who he will put into his cabinet. Know what those people will push hard. By ready to move money when the changes happen to cash in bigly.
More internationally based sourced income. I don't work an office based job like accounting so I can go international by making a few emails and phone calls - boom.
Buying more real estate to hold and grow money.
Try to understand the future economic moves so I don't do work in fields that will get gutted when he is president and go to areas that will make big money.

Part of me is ok with a Biden presidency because he will probably be a one termer as well.
RBG can step down, we can get through that and move on. Maybe the left will stop losing their god damn minds once the risk of a republican appointing RBGs replacement has passed.

The recent shift in favorability/polls appears mostly to be tied to the Floyd riots. The president does not have jurisdiction over municipal police or state law enforcement. As much as I would love to see him go and kick the shite out of every one of these freaks, that is up to the residents of Minneapolis.
This turned into a no win situation for him. I personally liked when Barr called the shot to clear Lafayette Park and frankly could have given a shite about tear gas, pepper balls, or what have you. I agree we are dealing with wretched freaks misled by corrupt people. But the MSM/Pelosi & Co. pounced, started calling Trump and Republicans murderers of George Floyd and the lemmings followed.

I didn't see your question until now.
The answer isn't obvious, and I acknowledge that. And part of the problem is the difference between how Trump tweets/talks and how he acts. Think of the tweets/comments he's made about the riots, BLM, Antifa, and tell me - are his words consistent with the actions of the federal government?
I think at a minimum what DOJ is evidently doing now should have been done weeks ago, and should have been done in a very demonstrative way. If the DOJ/FBI is good with sending messages by going full assault at 6 am on a 70 yo man who was accused of "lying," then why didn't we see a bunch of hooded/masked Antifa assholes frogmarched every night cities burned?
Beyond using law enforcement, I think Trump has not led very well. Separate from law enforcement particulars, what do you think Reagan would have done differently the last 3-4 months? I honestly don't think there'd have been a massive overreaction to COVID, and I'm pretty sure Reagan would have found his voice about the BLM/Antifa/whacko-Left BS. I think there's a lot of America somewhere in the middle that would respond to Trump taking the reigns, even just rhetorically.
To be clear about something ... I think COVID, Floyd/BLM/Antifa and now the new COVID effort are all the follow-ons to Russia, Ukraine, the emoluments clause, Trump is a white nationalist, Trump is emotionally unstable, etc., etc. It's all political, though there's a shred of something real (in some of them) that's used to hook the hopelessly liberal or those that are prone to being fooled.
I don't think the riots/assaults would have been as big or gone on as long if there hadn't been a lockdown. When Trump pivoted on the virus (remember his earliest positions on COVID), the liberals smelled blood in the water and it has been full-bore whacko since then.
I bet the Left was 100x more shocked than we have been at how willing "the Right" was to hide from a virus, abandon their businesses, accept government handouts, agree to being told not to go to church, and not support the few that speak up (and get arrested or fired or assaulted). They might have feared us before - what, with our "bibles and guns" and all, but today they think we're pushovers.
