It's not like they had any methodology of catching criminals in the 1920's. If you committed a crime, no one saw it, good job, you got away with it.
Additionally, our population and culture are different now than then.

Right on with the numbers. It's obvious that what we have is a major problem with minorities who can't conform to legal standards. 1 out of 6 black men will spend time in jail in their life time. 1 in 22 white men will do so. That's not because the justice system is racist my friend.
What about the fact that just the rate of incarcerated white men in the US (450 per 100,000) is over three times the total rate for the second place country (China, 118 per 100,000)?
I don't understand how you can digest those numbers and not wonder wtf is going on.

First I question China's numbers. Second, that is quite simply a factor of us being a pretty tolerant country compared to some other countries. Probably what 50% of what will land you in prison/jail in this country will flat get you killed in those countries.
Since you brought up China
LINK
The fact is Americans are more willing to risk prison/jail by omitting a crime than Chinese are willing to risk death for committing a crime.

If you can prove that other countries are executing citizens at a rate of almost 1000 per 100,000 you have a point and I'd be interested in seeing those numbers. If not, I'd like to hear your justification for imprisoning Americans at the highest rate in the world. Over 5 times the rate of second place.

I'd argue that there is a big problem with over-incarceration in the US.
Hilarious, this is just as ridiculous as trying to pin privately owned prisons for the reason why so many people are locked up.

I'm going to assume you're stupid at this point.
If the known penalty for say dealing drugs in country A) is a few years in prison and is country B) is death then it stands to reason that more people will risk selling drugs in A) than in B) and thus country B) doesn't HAVE To execute as many people as Country A) imprisons for the same crime because far fewer people are even violating that law.
This is just a simple fact, if our prisons were harsher and our sentencing more strict, we'd have fewer people risking prison .
I KNOW you want to pretend like the US imprisons tons of people for simple possession of drugs and that is unfair and racist, but statistics prove that is not the case. Dealing in large quantities of drugs, yes. Possession? No.

How does that graph correlate with population growth and the influence of technology? Security cameras/social media/etc.

150000/106500000 = 0.0014, not a percent, but 1.4 in 1000, 0r 140 in 100,000. .001% = 1 in 100,000
