3 Major Republican Candidates
"Bill" Cassidy (Incumbent)
John Fleming
Julia Letlow
Other Republican Running
Mark Spencer
Democrat Candidates
Nicholas "Nick" Albares
Gary Crockett
"Jamie" Davis
Other competitive race 5th District Rep.
Republican Candidates
Misti Cordell
Michael Echols
"Rick" Edmonds
Michael Mebruer
Blake Miguez
Samuel "Sammy" Wyatt
Democrat Candidates
Jessee Fleenor
Larry Foy
Lindsay "Rubia" Garcia
Dan McKay
Tania Nyman
So who you got?
In my opinion, LA Dems shite the bed by not putting any rising star on the ballot (not that they had one to spare) to make the November race more interesting for Senate. The three Republicans will duke it out in May and June and the race will be essentially over. The November election will be a coronation for the Republican candidate even if it is Cassidy unfortunately.
With the other races in the House seemly uncompetitive, Letlow does have an advantage in at least making the Republican run off for Senate in that her old house seat will be competitive. There are 6 Republicans and 5 Democrats running for her old seat.

Was he Running as a Republican or independent?
If he was running as an independent, independents have to get enough qualifying petitions signed by voters. Looks like only one independent/no party candidate qualified for the race in November, and that was for PSC District 1.
So there will be no, secret campaign for Cassidy to play spoiler and run independent after losing in May or June. He would have had to make that decision at qualifying and have his nominating petitions in order to qualify as an independent.

Fleming round 1
Anyone but Cassidy round 2 (Republican run off)
Anyone but Cassidy round 3 (General Election)
I never thought I would vote for a Democrat for any state office again, but if, God forbid, Cassidy makes it through the primaries, I will have to make a principled vote for the Democrat (just the way our Senator did to our President 5 years ago). I wlll NEVER vote for Cassidy ever again.

Fleming by a mile. Letlow is Cassidy lite. And other than probably not voting to convict Trump she may have a worse voting record.

Thank goodness they specified "Nick" or I would have otherwise had no idea who that was.
