On incomes over $10 million? Yeah, maybe. I’d be happier around 60%. It’s not a wild
idea, and we’ve done it before without catastrophe.

So, imagine the proposal ends up being 70% rate on $20 million. This is for ordinary income not businesses or capital gains. Any accountant worth their salt will move money around to avoid the tax. I keep laughing at both the right and left on this issue because this a big nothing burger.

It should be on capital gains, too.

You have any comments on what I’ve asked?
I am honestly just trying to see your perspective. That’s all. I have acknowledged that I have differing opinions. This is an honest attempt at understanding.

They are very unwilling to back this tax rate hike.
This is very unusual.

Agreed. And there's so few people that actually make that kind of money. It wouldn't fund jack shite.

Why does there seem to be an unwillingness to back this by others like yourself?
Again, just asking a question. Not trying to demean.

It's not about funding, it's about envy.

A majority of Americans back this.

Trade that stupid 70% for the Wall

Democrats are stupid enough to go for it

Seriously, find something you really want if you’re McConnell, McCarthy and Trump. Invite AOC over and make a deal with her on let’s say National ID cards. Don’t invite Pelosi.

I know they do, the majority of Americans do not pay taxes and are dependent upon government assistance. Why would these people condemn a tax hike if they themselves will not be negatively impacted?

I think you have an emotional view on what you think progressives want. 70% is really high, it would really depend on what use the extra money would be used for. With the current state of a bumbling incompetent bureaucracy it is difficult to support any tax raises as they just might as well be thrown in the garbage. Though theoretically with a somewhat competent government and clear plan to benefit the people (ie socialized healthcare, secondary education ect.)I would support higher taxes especially on individual wages above a certain amount.

that would only pass with about 5k loopholes to avoid paying 70%. They would call it the accountant and tax attorney employment act 2. This is the reason we don't let children make important decisions.
