Bootlicking never struck me as Paul's thing. While i generally disagree with most of what he says, i can respect his opinion because, usually, it is well reasoned and principled, even though it differs from my own

Agree totally with this sentiment /\

I can respect any opinion that can be articulated without reliance on stupid assertions of superiority.

I mostly agree with Paul - I think he is too fundamentalist in his libertarianism and I am more of a war hawk than he.

BUT - I take everything he says with absolute faith that he believes it - and I would welcome a Rand presidency.

The problem has never been that Rand Paul isnt ready to be president. Its thats America might not be ready for Rand Paul. I hope they are one day, because I am.

he was my first choice among republicans.(Rubio 2nd).
He was mediocre in primary debates and dropped out after doing nothing in a couple of primaries.
Only republican to speak against patriot act and its add ons.
He will never win presidential nomination. Never. Ever.
Only Bush3 gov florida was worse.

Large swathes of people also thought it should be her turn and that the election was stolen by Russia. I would wager that people that believe this rhetoric, and believe that Rand is a nut job, are one and the same. Keep in mind, that includes the "Republican based" NEVER TRUMPERS.

Before 2016, I would agree but you never know what to expect as a result of the Trump effect

I think some people don't know what brown nosing actually is. Therefore they incorrectly apply the term.

Libs on here knighted for McCain endlessly. And Flake. And now the former racist old white male Mitt. Boy boy boy.

Mitt Romney is the Dems best shot at winning the Presidency. Romney could run as an Independent or even a Dem and be in his comfy zone.

Makes me sick that these virtue-signaling R's would bat an eye at Obama's TOTAL CRIMINAL CORRUPTION of DOJ/FBI/Intel Community for the purpose of their "insurance policy" strategy...yet Trump lacks character.

Book it...Romney will be on board with Pelosi's House *Investigations*. He is disgusting beyond even Flake and McCain; and will be the new Dem hero.

Trump had better declassify/drop that FISA stuff and turn the tide, or he'll be inundated by the MSM wave of Muh Criminal. Damn the stupid Brits and Aussies for throwing in with Obama's treachery.

Well no shite, we elected trump.

But what matters are people who vote, and I don't think Rand Paul is particularly persuasive to anyone but people who like Rand, or trump.

Absolutely agree. If Romney were to primary Trump or to run as a third party (unlikely IMHO), it pretty much means any democrat could win.

No hate for VP Pence, but it would be a great day if he happened to step aside, "for personal reasons" and Trump nominated Paul to replace him.

Romney has no political capital to do either of those

I don't think many politicians are as persuasive to anyone on the other side of the aisle as they think. Although I'll give credit to Democrats for basically abandoning such lip service altogether.

I think he would get a fair amount of backing for either. He certainly would be able to raise some $$, and probably get a lot of coverage from the nevertrump media.

I don't think he would ever run as independent in the general though. He just isnt' the type. Too "nice" to do it. Now kasich could, but he isn't particularly compelling.
