You have to draw the line somewhere.

Deflecting to alcohol shows pure ignorance on the topic. He might as well include aspirin and red meat if this is the logic and lack of education he has.

Marijuana should be legal, and Republicans have their foot on the brake.

Shouldn't I have the freedom to keep my own money instead of paying for your food, housing, and healthcare? Stuff maybe you could afford yourself except for the fact you bought drugs instead.

Is it morally right for you to use your money to buy drugs and have someone else pay for your food, rent and healthcare?

Yes or no.

No there isn't. All these new "mental problems" used to be "human failings." Some people deal with them in a positive manner and some people don't. Lack of character is not a "mental problem."

So the answer is to use your tax dollars to lock people up for smoking pot?

Just find a way that I don't have to pay for it. Simple enough.

Fines, misdemeanor, etc. I don't care. They don't have to go to jail.

My libertarian stance is "do what the frick you want, just as long as I don't have to pay for it."

Don't let weed fool you, it can be abused just like alcohol and other drugs....it needs to be controlled, IMO.

I am in favor of decriminalization of weed, but chronic offenders need to be punished, just like DWI offenders.

How is personal freedom not an argument you respect?

It is. "If you don't agree with me on this issue you don't believe in personal freedom" isn't an actual argument.

Who decides what "hurt anyone else" means? Can I have an orgy on the sidewalk in front of an elementary school? Or at a public park while moms have their kids on the swings? Why not?

The party of freedom strikes again Odd point to stick it to, when many Rs just think the states should take it over... You know, the 10th.

That is exactly what federal decriminalization would do..clearly most Rs don’t want to leave it to the states

This bill included "reparations" for those who have been punished in the past for marijuana crimes.

Maybe that has something to do with it.

Most people that would smoke weed in public are absolute trash and I don’t want them to be able to do it in public. Legalizing will end with all of our public places filled with weed smokers and ruining it for everyone else

Here you go. Reparations for incarcerations.

"The MORE Act would automatically expunge marijuana arrests, charges, and convictions at no cost to the individual based on federal offenses. Certainly, the MORE Act would help Black Americans evade the carceral system for the purposes of gaining education and employment.

The bill would also create opportunities for us to pursue the legal cannabis market without the threat of facing jail time for nonviolent, federal marijuana offenses. Cannabis-related earnings and revenue, triggered by the bill’s passing, would serve as a dynamic form of reparations for the egregious acts of social and economic injustice committed against Black Americans, from chattel slavery to modern slavery—better known as mass incarceration."

And now the thread will scroll off page one.

Not that too many people were interested in actual arguments in favor of legalizing pot anyway.

Marijuana is just another thing on the list the US government has lied to its citizens about. It’s an extremely useful plant other than just smoking it. Our federal government has tried to eradicate it. Stop buying into the continued bullshite refer madness narrative.

People that don’t like weed aren’t just going to smoke it. There are plenty of people that don’t drink at all or might just a couple of times a year.

You can ban smoking just like they do with cigarettes.
