What historical claim do the Russians have to Konigsberg....the name Kaliningrad had for 600 - 700 years?

They took it by force, and got Germany to renounce all claim to the region. That’ll do it.
Besides, the Russians expelled all the Germans in the late 40’s and replaced them with Soviet citizens. Outside of a handful of old Prussian buildings, everything about Kaliningrad is entirely Russian at this point.

It’s been three months. Let’s revisit this time next year, or in 5 years. No doubt Russia won the short term economic gotcha game, but I still think it’s very unlikely that this invasion places Russia in a more advantageous geo-political situation going forward.
They don’t exactly look imposing on the battlefield. They’ll eventually get what they wanted, but they looked like shite doing it and their arms industry is going to suffer for it. Plus we get to watch and learn lessons.
The economic W they are ‘enjoying’ is more a symptom of the ineptness of American leadership than anything else.
All that to say that Russia has zero to gain by attacking a NATO country. None whatsoever. Russia is not on par with NATO militarily.
