So kinda what we have now. Trump favoring the big business capitalists while Mar a Lago hosts Furry Balls
I doubt this saves any money. Just rigs the bid in favor of the bigger contractors. Hegseth isn't looking out for the "little guy" in this instance.

So now contracts will go mainly to the big boys entirely like RTX, Northrop, Boeing, etc.

Means he was a glorified playboy. He hasn't been there in 47 years and he's more American now than Persian. There's a woman in New Orleans that ICE picked up and then released, she said she wouldn't know what to do if she went to Iran, she's American

You do realize he's not Iranian or Persian anymore? He's an American with a Persian background. He might be well versed on the issues, but he's probably the wrong person to represent the revolution.....of course we don't know any of the players inside Iran
Stupid . Not even dangerous, just stupid. But thankfully, there are few of you in reality.
So it becomes Trump's private fund to do as he wishes?
Doesn't answer my question. Do we have any idea who we are dealing with. I get that the citizenry is fed up, but who do you deal with?
No dumbshit. Rates peaked between 7.5 and 8 in Oct/Nov after hovering between 6.25 and 6.75 through the summer. 2024 they hovered in the upper 6's to low 7s
You should be a fiction writer......9%........

When in the last 25 years have the rates been anywhere near 9% for a 30 year fixed conforming or FHA / VA loan?

But that does not address the price of the asset that is overall inflated. The 400K house is still 400K. You'll still have price inflation at the lower rates as the borrower who could afford the house at 6% all of a sudden discovers if the rate is 5.5 he can get a more desirable house at 5.5%.
Your not making things more affordable, you're just masking it. The price still goes up. If you lower the rates builders and sellers of existing stock will see it as a call to list at higher prices so your example fails as the asking price of the asset goes up....so any savings at 6% get eaten up going forward by the increase in price of the asset.

That makes no sense to overall asset price.
How is a lower payment going to make an overall inflated asset any cheaper in Price? It just means that the assets overall price either stays the same or moves upward. A lower rate does not take an inflated price from 400 down to 300. It stays at 400 and probably starts to move upward beyond 400
If a builder sees that the lower rate could entice buyers, he's not going to bring his price down.

No. When it was apparent that he was THE player in January / February 1979 Carter and the CIA as well as NSA determined that we should open dialogue with him if only to protect Americans and American interests there. Shah was toast by this time and on his way to Egypt.
Not really facilitated. Khomeini was THE player at the time and they had no one else to deal with. Certainly not Bakhtiar, he was an emasculated PM that did not have any real public support. Khomeini was coming back whether we wanted him to or not at the time. The Shah was toast. Shah missed his opportunity a few years before that whe the Iraqis offered to handle him. After that he went to France.
Huyser was there and while there discovered that the Iranian air force had been totally infiltrated as were some army units that were jumping ship and siding with the demonstrations. But really by the time Huyser showed up it was too late. Most American businesses like TRW had bugged out that summer ......as they were CIA types and saw the writing on the wall especially in Tehran and after what happened in Abadan.
You should go back and read the history between the Shah and Khomeini. It's fascinating in that Khomeini NEVER denied what he wanted and the Shah tried to placate him thinking that if he showed restraint he could survive. Khomeini and his supporters would just up the activity as they smelled more weakness. Abadan is a great example. They were able to blame the Shah for the theater massacre when just about everyone KNEW it was Khomeini's supporters who locked the doors and set fire to the place. But the Shah was not popular there as he had not paid a lot of the oil workers there for a few months.

Explain how keeping rates high is inflating the cost of houses?

Therein lies the problem with getting involved there at this time. But shipping a few guns into the Kurdish areas in the Northwest is pretty low risk. We know the Kurds. We don't know anyone else at this point.
I certainly would not be shipping Stingers or Javelins until we know the players. Bur Some ARs and some ammo.....real low risk at this time. Ship them to Northern Iraq and smuggle across the border and see who is asking.

I'm all for shipping arms to them. But beyond that we should not involve ourselves in any meaningful way like using our military.
We don't know who we are dealing with on the other side. Could be our friends, could be something else and even then we should stay away and be mostly spectators.
Do you know who the main people are that are running the protests and revolution? US Intel apparently does not either.
