Call it a failure if you like but Russia has recaptured about half of the Kursk territory that the Ukrainians occupied. in just a couple of days. In large part because of the chaos the pipeline infiltration caused.
And the russians blew up the building the Ukraine leaders were staying at in Kursk, leaving the soldiers in the trenches on their own. Russia blew up the bridges of the northern half of the Kursk territory and the Ukrainians that have managed to escape had to leave behind a shite all of their vehicles (APC's and such).

The. Normandy airborne drops on dday ere largely a failure. Troops were dropped off target all over Normandy, in swamps and I. The middle of German held fortifications. Planes were shot down, crashed and off course. But the massive failure involved in the overall operation helped it succeed by creating confusion, obstacles, and achieving some objectives

Whatever has actually occurred on the ground there, Russia blowing up its own bridges to cut off a retreat by Ukrainian forces back to Ukraine does not logically portend a Russian military disaster.
