So if the Senate has no duty to advise and consent, you're cool with absolutely anything a Dem Senate does, right?

frick me. The games are over...man up and take the damn seat. They're more worried about reelection than the country.

Thus could be the best thing to happen to this country in a LONG time, and we're going to screw it up

Of course Cocaine Mitch wants to rush thru a conservative judge now after saying in 2016 a judge should not be appointed in an election year.

Hypocrisy and a lack of principle.

Let's ponder this for one Second.
Should we confirm before the election?
Let's ask ourselves... what would the Dems do?
Let's see... they framed our president,
They impeached an innocent president. They have shut down the country over the flu, they are rioting, burning cities and shooting police they are defunding the police.
I could go on and on and on.
The time for manners is over.
Go for the throat.

Look at it this way, if Trump were to get someone appointed before the election, it probably wouldn't be "his #1 draft choice". It would be someone that a group of moderates, including Manchin possibly, "allowed" him to select. If he win re-election he can claim he has the mandate to make his pick, and he at least has ammo for a fight.

And truth be told, his first two picks probably weren't his either. Kavanaugh in particular was rumored to be a prid quo pro with Anthony Kennedy (if you nominate my favorite former clerk and protege, I'll retire).

Trump should be the bigger man right now and refuse to answer questions or play politics during a time of mourning and bereavement for her friends, family and colleagues. If internal canvassing indicates he doesn't have the votes (and he probably doesn't) then he should shift gears into making this a rallying cry for turning out the base to vote.

While I 100% hope Trump hops on this due to how important it will be for this election, do you think it could turn some people off and make him look heartless if he moves too quick? I’m not talking about real republicans, but those voters that are on the fence.

I'm not going to celebrate this news or talk smack because was raised to think that it was rude to speak ill of the deceased especially the newly deceased. Plus even someone like her has loved ones that are legitimately mourning and hurting (unlike the liberals that are mourning because her position is now vacant) because a loved one has passed away (prayers sent for them).

However, I will say that I am glad that someone will be cleaning out the office of the liberal lion of the SCOTUS very soon.

Not a chance. This is bad news for Trump

Considering the strong possibility that the election results will end up in the Supreme Court, I would say that this improves the possibility for Trump's re-election.
