I'm not sure what bothers me most: The horrendous misunderstanding of what some non-Catholics think the Pope is to the Catholic Church (a deity?! a 'direct line to God'?!... 
); or the Catholics who support those misunderstandings from their own ignorance. Which is why Catholic converts are nearly always better informed Catholics than 'cradle Catholics'.
The Catholic Church prints a book, "The Catechism of the Catholic Church". It explains what the Catholic Church teaches in detail, with Scriptural references, etc. Guaranteed it does NOT describe the Pope as a deity or a 'direct line to God'.
That aside... I'm no fan of this Pope. He is WAY outside the mold of JP II and Benedict XVI.
