So essentially, it’s a drone attached to fiber for a line of site attack. I don’t think drone is the right term for what this actually is.

A drone allows for full movement. This won’t allow that due to the fiber eventually weighing the “drone” down, or the fiber tangling in a tree, power lines, etc.

They need to use a different term for this setup.

With the advances in AI it won't be too long before drones are preprogrammed with the data/information for their mission and they will operate autonomously.

Now this is a valid concern. Which leans back into EMP.

Honestly, someone needs to invent the net guns that Scooby Doo and the Gang used to catch villains. Knock them straight down.

If they make them big enough, it'd be funny to see them use them on ANTIFA rioters too

Or you know those laser guns farmers use for insects? Just turn the power up a bit

Electrical Jammer blocking the relay frequency that controls the drones would be more effective. If the drone cannot communicate with the operator, it is useless.
this.

Save your ammo. If you can take drones down with nothing but electricity that can be recharged, do it.

instead of going to. a 7-8inch long 410 cartridge, why not just use a 20, 16 or 12 gauge standard

I think size of the weapon and weight would become an issue. You only need a tiny pellet to get into those blades to bring one down.

US military already has them.
Tho, the AI still needs work. There was a report last year where the current model at the time attacked it's operator

There is a DEW called Leonidas that can drop 100 drones at once by frying their electronics.

Start at the 8:00 minute mark and give it a listen for a few minutes.

I always thought some type of net and rocket systems would be good.

They could be different sizes and made to retro fit to weapons including larger ones for RPGs

Basically deploy and then at a set point (via cable) the projectile separates into a large carbon fiber or thin steel net.

Maybe, even have the system set up like the Israeli Trophy defense where the drone gets detected and an auto system shoots the net system. A trophy style system could set the cable deploy length to get the carrying round closer before it separates and spreads out.

The net would be hell on the propellers of drones.

Not with the new fiber optic drones the Russians are using. They started this because of jammers and so far the Ukranians haven't found a defense. The Ukes are starting to use there own.

This is getting sadly and terrifyingly wild.

A TOW missile is a line of sight weapon. A drone is not so the fiber optic probably won’t work well

It works terrifyingly well, videos have been posted here over a month ago. You can find them on youtube or https://www.reddit.com/r/UkraineRussiaReport/

There is no static. The video is crystal clear even right up to detonation. The radio control drones apparently have some caching delay so they usually cut out about 10 feet before impact.

This war has greatly enhanced the fighting ability of our rivals.

If the drone is close enough to you for you to shoot with a shotgun, it is close enough to explode and kill you.

Think of the drone as a flying claymore or suicide vest.

At some point, we’ll probably be facing the same issue.
