second, those countries have been almost 100% demographically homogenous and are much smaller than the us

Norway got rich off of "nationalized" oil production (yes, I know their offshore production isn't owned entirely by the state but they funnel everything through the state via offshore licenses and their state-owned company).

You can call Norway a market economy but over 50% of their GDP comes from state controlled capital (ie oil)...Bernie bros would love that

Another warning about Socialism

CNSNEWS

quote:

Socialism’s promises are enticing, at first, but citizens ultimately lose their freedom, a man who fled Albania to come to the U.S. warns. Peter Lumaj, now a conservative activist in the U.S., told Fox News on Sunday that, despite its promise of free goods and services, “Socialism becomes a big prison system at the end”: “The most common words that they use, when they talk about socialism, is providing free things to the population. Don’t they do that with the prison system? “Socialism becomes a big prison system at the end – where we provide free services to people. But, again, the population loses its freedom and the opportunity to prosper.”

I like how the "demographically homogenous" argument comes up time and time again.. in an argument about economics..

Hilarious really

good article to use when your liberal friends try to tell you that Scandinavian countries are Socialist.

You must be confused. The only people I see that conflate social programs with full-blown socialism are conservatives.

I will prove my point here:

"First, it is worth noting that the Nordic counties were economic successes before they built their welfare states. Those productive economies, generating good incomes for their workers, allowed the governments to raise the tax revenue needed to pay for the social benefits. It was not the government benefits that created wealth, but wealth that allowed the luxury of such generous government programs."

Cool so this means we can have our social programs and government-funded health care and not be socialist after all.

Lolololol

You're the one making that error, champ.

Bernie and his little frickers aren't advocating Venezuela, they're advocating Sweden or Denmark.

But they want those nations’ services without those nations’ tax systems....which are much more broad and regressive than here.

They want the tax systems, too.

How you can claim to hate liberals so much when you lack even a basic understanding of the aims of the movement is baffling. How far your head must be up your own arse.

I don't see how removing insurance company profits puts us in a worse position. I think it takes some mental gymnastics to really be afraid of single-payer

No, they don’t....and please stop verbally abusing me

The left in America is not out there advocating for middle class tax increases on the par of Scandinavia

Bernie, warren, et al always resort to increasing taxes on wealthy to pay for it

Link me where the left is calling for 50% income tax on middle class?

You are such a dumbass. How does the number of people make any difference? That is just the dumbest thing I've ever heard. The whole point is to go Single Payer which basically just illiminates Insurance Company profits. That inherently would make more economic sense for everyone involved who isn't a CEO of an insurance company

Fail. you have individuals supporting socialism and politicians running as Democratic Socialist. Who's confused?

quote:

So a true free capitalistic market allowed them to create great wealth?

also
What was their Labor participation rate before?
What was the poverty rate before?
What was median income before?
What was the population before "welfare State" and today?
What was the Defense spending and what other countries do they protect before and after?

Sounds like if you want your Generous govt programs, you need everyone to participate and promote capitalism. Not just have the 1/10 of 1% pay more.

That's all well and good but I would just like to see the elimination of insurance companies in most cases

Quit trying to hide behind everyone else. You're an idiot and you have no logic behind any of your reasoning. Just how is the difference between 7 million and 300 million relevant in this case? I want you to really dig down deep and explain it to me. I mean yes one number is much larger than another but how that correlates with single-payer system or insurance company doesn't really make any sense to me.

But socialist are authoritarian types that would never stop until the taxpayers were bled dry and then the inevitable collapse would come.
