Was sitting in my office and had a pamphlet dropped off in my office by my boss. Said we had a new employee coming in and we all needed to understand their view.. he was transitioning to female.
Was at the printer and had to move some of my bosses PowerPoint display.. he was corp chief geophysicist.. noticed they were pie charts for upward mobility.. color coded for race and gender.. nowhere was experience.. education..
Good friend was turning down management promotions.. no different skills than the rest of us….SHE said when are y’all gonna realize I do not want to go into management..
Welcome to the oil industry 1980…. Fwiw… we did need to change…it is a complicated topic and horror stories on both sides of the fences.

There is a simple solution to all this. Stop divulging that you are white on applications. If you are white, simply put down that you are Cuban or Native American.

I'll tell my history with Union jobs. same thing. they despise merit.
2005 I get a job at Union Foundry in Anniston Alabama. They hire me as a grinder yet my first day they decide to put me on " the shaker" Where you use a 12 lb. sledge to beat the parts out of their mold casings after they come out of the forge.
Summer heat in East Alabama slinging a sledge for 12 hours per day next to molten steel. Passed out twice and was given " salt tablets" and gatorade. About 6 weeks in the manager comes up and he says man you're one of the hardest workers Ive seen. you really give it your all. We got a fork lift driver position that just opened up. I'm gonna make sure you get it.
I'm thinking Hell yea, easier work and fork lift drivers make about $3/hr more.
Next week manager comes up and says they gave it to the slowest guy on the shaker. I'm talking so GD bad he took maybe 1 swing for every 10 of mine. He says sorry but they really need me on the shaker!.
We got a full week off for 4th of july ( yay union! ). first day on the way back I got stopped by a train and was going ot have my first day late since working there. Took it as a sign and said F them.
2017 I start work on Camp lejeune for base housing. I start as a painter since I grew up working for century 21 painting under my grandfathers company.
From the get go I'm working circles around these people. I'm getting the daily work load done in about 3 hours WITH breaks.
I start askign questions at union meetings. What's the deal why are we all making the same when some of us clearly carry the load? Every single person starts laughing and making fun.
" you can work as hard as you want to buddy they aint gonna pay you more, aint no raises around here"
I start recording my work, documenting my performance. Start an email chain and recording with management and upper management. I wind up getring a little $1 Merit raise. First person in thhe history of the comapny at that location to get one. Somehow everyone sle knows about it and do I get any congrats? Nope just whining and bitching for the next year until CBA comes up and they change the contact so now EVERYONE in the company gets a merit raise EVERY year.
Couple more years of working hard I get promotes to Special projects focusing on Mold/lead/asbestos. highest paying non management job in the company. all 200 of them start bitching and moaning again because Painters don't have to do on call , so the next CBA the contract gets changed again to say " any person who changes from non on call positions must agree to do on call"
Company starts failing. They bring in 3 different Director of Facilities from corporate in Boston to " fix things". I wind up fired for yelling at one of the slowest workers we had, because he wouldn't shut the F up crying about parking spots instead of going to work. 3rd DoF decides im the perfect example! everyone hates that guy!

By this time I had bought and remodeled enough rental property for myself I Hadn't NEEDED the job for close to 2 years.
Said F the world. Im gonna sit home and do whatever I want the rest of my life.
yea I could blame the union, but really every other job I had was the same. Even when I first left the service and got a temporary job delivering for pizza hut. manager would give me the 1030AM prep shift with no deliveries because " you're the only one who will come in and actually get us prepped"
That's all this country is any more. a bunch of lazy POS who want something for nothing and don't know how to earn shite. We warned you all as soon as they started giving participation trophies. Now the entire work force is nothing but those same kids you gave the trophies for losing.
Now get off my lawns, plural.
ETA:: That Foundry job was the hardest shite I've ever done. Marine corps infantry included.

It doesn't matter what race wins and what race loses. Sacrificing the meritocracy in the name of voting blocks is inherently immoral, unethical, and idiotic.
You obviously are not in a position of hiring employees or you would KNOW this impacts a lot more than giving weirdos safe spaces. It's about giving undeserving, underqualified people positions of higher authority and compensation because they look or act different, not because they earned it.
That harms production, morale, and by extension the bottom line, which hurts employees, investors, communities and everyone associated with the organization.
And yes. If Trump picked ACB because she is a female and not because she was the most qualified then that was a DEI hire. Based on some of her decisions, I question whether she was the best choice.

The majority are. Until race/sex is no longer asked for to go thru the quota bias algorithms then it is. Just like having blacks in medieval England acting roles. Is it wrong to say that's a DEI hire?

It’s simple, if you say “we need more diversity” then you mean less white men. That’s the bottom line of what is meant. No one ever wants to diversify an all black org, etc.
When you eliminate one of the largest if not the largest pools of candidates for something (job, vp, etc) because of race/sex (white men) there is a better than average chance the candidate you pick isn’t the best (though they might be good enough). That’s just how numbers work. Pick from a smaller pool, can’t be sure you found the best.

I worked for one of the largest agribusiness companies in the world. It is family owned. I worked there for 12 years and loved the company. They treated people well. If your behaviors and results were good, you would have opportunities to advance. I still have several friends who work there and when I speak to all of them, they’re miserable. The older ones just keep their head down and are riding it out til retirement. The younger ones are all trying to get out. The company has been overrun with wokeness and DEI. They’re constantly subjected to videos about whiteness, lgbtq+ shite, etc. a couple of them told me they basically do not hire or promote white men anymore.

Everything leftists push are promoted as good things with pure motives and they never are. If DEI was presented as accepting all people as equals because we were all created equal, but merit was the determining factor in hires and promotions, I could get behind that.
But like Raoul said, that isn't what DEI is. DEI is "accept me even though I'm lesser qualified, cannot work well with others, have little respect for authority, am rebelling against conformity, need attention, am mentally ill, or just act this way to piss you off." It is a permission slip for the inept and/or socially dysfunctional to do everything on their terms be rewarded over those who aspire to proper and professional conduct and production.
But DEI is just a symptom, not a disease. The disease is the left's desire to destroy western civilization and its meritocracy and rebuild it with a communist utopia. Every time that's been tried tens of millions of people died, but people still think the left has pure motives.
Our education system had to be destroyed because no one would buy into that BS if they were critical thinkers.
