So what was the millions of dollars, and the presidents involvement for?

Democrats are desperate for a win, to the point that they will waste money on meaningless elections that have no impact.

By "presidents involvement," you mean he posted an endorsement on social media? Is that what we're going to call "presidents involvement?"

Nah, it's an accurate representation of this seat.

Not really. None of the excuses explain the swing in that district. Too cold for Rs but not for Ds? Low interest except for Ds?

The Democrats raised and spent less than $400,000, Leigh raised more than $2.4 million. The man is president and spent days telling MAGA to vote in this election. Not to mention all the big wigs in Texas pushing to win this race. It’s an enormous deal, and it paints an ugly picture for how things will go in November.

Democrats always vote. Not sure why this would be surprising to you.

That doesn't change anything: this person will lose this seat before doing anything with it.

K. Believe whatever you want. You do realize they're raising money for the November election too, right?

Haven't you implied multiple times that your career is in politics?

What's with this schtick of acting like a 20+ swing is not worthy of conversation on a political message board?

What? This board was saying the opposite 8-10 years ago. Republicans tend to vote more routinely as they are older.

Trump (and other factors) changed that. Democrats are by far the more reliable voters now.

Dems have a solid base of people who will vote in literally every election. It's true at every level. City Council, Judges, County seats, if they could vote for garbage collector they'd come out to those too. I don't know who told you otherwise, but that's always been the case for as long as I've been voting.

Nah, it's always been this way.

It was definitely before Trump regardless. Obama's get out the vote efforts would be a more reliable starting point if you really want one, but this has always been the case in elections I've been a part of.

No. It flipped as Dems became the educated party.

It started under Obama and under Trump its solidified that this is the new normal

Not according to Pew. Democrats need high turnout elections to win because they have less reliable voters...
quote:

Almost by definition, high-turnout elections mobilize more infrequent and new voters. For the past several decades, high turnout often benefited Democratic candidates, who enjoyed greater support among less-affluent, minority and young voters – groups that tend to vote at lower rates. This pattern has been weakening since 1960 but was still evident in the 2020 election.

Your own citation only covers until 2020. We're now in 2026. Thats a long time in politics. And its crystallized since 2020.

Dems now have higher propensity voters than we do, especially since Trump spiked the gender gap even more in 2024.

Women vote more than men, especially in local elections.

Ok. Strange that Pew is so wrong about that, because it's definitely not the case for local elections. Dems will vote in every local election, every time.

I dont think so. The Republicans took the House in 2022 and we know how 2024 went.

You're talking about national elections. We're talking about local elections.

Yes, Republicans get out and vote in national elections.

That was macro issues bc of Biden tho mate. We underperformed bigly in 2022 relative to historical context and expectations.

2024 had Trump on the ballot - he and Andrew Jackson (and Bill Clinton) are the kings of low propensity voters.
