Yes I know. They absolutely do not.

The behavior problems as disabilities is what really needs to be examined.
504 plans cover physical disabilities
One example; a diabetic kid may get accommodations that allow him or her to leave the classroom without notice or permission (to go to the bathroom or take a shite)
You’ve brought up extra time for tests as another example
Those types of accommodations are here to stay and won’t go away
One problem I have is that ADHD is in the 504 umbrella, but that’s a different issue…
The reason for this lawsuit is that the Biden administration extended 504 protection to “gender dystopia”; which is ridiculous
Feeling like you were born the wrong gender should not trigger an automatic accommodation by schools
That is really all this whole situation boils down to
Kids that have actual medical needs will continue to get the help they need
I hope this helps you understand and feel better about this whole situation

Once you've set goals and written it down, there is no difference between a 504 plan and an IEP.
Have you ever worked in education? Or read anything about Section 504 or IDEA? I’m asking because IEPs are not 504s. They are completely different. 504s ONLY address accommodations and in rare cases modifications. There are no goals or objectives in a 504 plan. There are no wrap around services in 504 plans like APE, OT or speech therapy.

It opened up as a webpage for me. Why are you name calling? It’s frustrating that discussions cannot be had on this board without emotionally unstable men hurling insult and cussing. Just calmly make your point.
It’s hard to take someone this immature seriously.

Try to learn something sometime.
I'm not going to be giving you my credentials. Anyone reading this thread can verify what I'm saying in under 10 seconds with a web search.

Why do you think this?

ADHD isn’t an accommodation. Kids can get IEPs for ADHD under OHI (other health impairment), in Louisiana at least. Eliminating 504s won’t eliminate accommodations for kids with ADHD, it will just require every one of them to have an IEP, which would result in Many more hours of administrative work for school staff.

I said this much in the OP. Why not sue to remove the trans stuff instead of trying to eliminate all 504s?

Respectfully, dcbl telling me I should trust the government to do the right thing doesn’t instill any confidence at all.

Why do you think this?
because this will still be up to educators and my expectation is that the courts will decide to strike the new language but keep the law
but mostly because it will mostly be in the hands of educators

ETA: I'm not downloading your blind pdf you hack. If it says a 504 plan must be written down, that is a STATE or LOCAL rule. It is not required by federal law. You do not know what you are talking about.
If you had, you would have seen that the link she provided *also* said on page 6 regarding 504s:

Although the written document is not mandated, it is recommended.”
So she provided evidence contradicting her own claim
