I drove to Canaan Valley resort today and am settling in listening to some live music. I plan to hit the slopes tomorrow with gusto. Timberline is practically next door so I'll probably go there too Saturday.

Thanks to all you taxpayers who are sponsoring my trip, and to "your president" who is making it possible!

See my earlier post where I noted some were playing about the fact that I'd likely not get paid during the shutdown.

Turns out I am getting paid, and am quite willing to rub everyone's noses in it.

I need to stop for now, the live show is about to play and I'm nursing my third craft beer. Thanks for paying and I hope the shutdown keeps on going on!

I’m getting paid through first of the year and not doing a thing, but mines called vacation pay. I’m still essential to business, and I’ll still have my office when I return to it. Sorry you can not go to work & not be missed at all. Sounds like a promising future.

I'm quite essential to things like audits and other financial functions. Many people want federal agencies to be audited, right? Well, I work in that area.

But audits aren't essential to life and limb and short-term national security, so that isn't happening right now. In the long run they do matter though, so I'm not worried about my job security. Thanks to all who asked.

Have to run, the slopes won't ski themselves.

You must be pretty shitty at your job considering how much money “disappears” and how much money is wasted.

Surprised that sitting in your garage with the car running didn’t knock off the biking as “things to do”.

Thanks, and Merry Christmas to you as well.

It was a bit warm for skiing but it's still snow so I got in plenty of runs. I might run out of things to do that don't involve my job if this keeps going on but at least I get paid.

The problem with shutdowns like this is that I can't just fly to Vegas for a week b/c any day it could end. Although it is looking more and more that Trump isn't going to get what he wants. Eventually even Fox News will get tired of the nonsense. When Rush and Laura start laughing at him maybe then he'll come to his senses. Then I'll have to actually get back to the office.

It's really too warm for good skiing so I'm back home now watching football.

My paycheck arrived yesterday via direct deposit, just like always.

So did everyone else in the govt. non essential contractors won’t get their next check. I hope your contract protects you. I don’t wish financial struggles on anyone. I went through that a decade or so ago and it sucked.

I do realize you are trolling the board and gloating about bein non essential....your pettiness aside. I honestly do hope you’re protected contractually. It is rare for shut downs to be protected in a govt contract.

Complete and utter bullshite. It is clear that you do not work in a large corporation.
