The right to keep and bears arms is so very important that any crimes used with a firearm against another person should require a punishment so severe that it would serve as a deterrent to others. We should find a remote, desolate shithole of an area and make a prison farm that no one would want to go to nor would anyone be allowed to visit.
Right now there's no incentive to follow the law.

Not if we used life in prison with no parole more. Or the death penalty. If someone is too dangerous to be free in society they then should be removed from society.
Telling a criminal "you cant have a firearm" doesnt keep them from getting a firearm. But locking their arse up in prison does. We know exactly where they are... in a cell for the next 30 years.
And to those who would complain about the costs of long term incarceration, I would like for them to consider the costs of the criminal being free. Are they on any form of welfare, food stamps? If they are a criminal what are the costs of those crimes? Higher insurance rates, medical costs, increased police budgets (to deal with the revolving door criminals).
All that money is saved when the criminal is sitting in a cell.
