I finished the 2nd episode. I got the impression that this will be more of the typical style each episode will be.

One thing that I've noticed is these cadets are much older and really adept compared to the teenagers that were smart but very inexperienced from the days of Wesley Crusher and Nog. This new crop is old enough to have graduated and should be serving..

Since I didn't finish Discovery I had to read up on what "The Burn" was all about and how it affected the Federation and it sucks. Since 2009, the owners of the Star Trek franchise have had this annihilation fantasy starting with the destruction of Romulus and the Federation....

We'll be at page 2 soon soon we can vent...

FWIW, the first Episode is free on Youtube. Funny, only 14,000 views after 10 hours.

We'll give it a try. We stuck with Discovery too long and ended up coming back to Picard for the famous third season after passing on season two.

I've read many of your Star Trek themed posts over the years and I suspect you'll see much of this show the same way as I do. Since you invoked Discovery, I will add that this show is somewhat of a sequel to Discovery set 150 years after that show and builds on some of the themes from that show
The first 2 episodes dropped today. Many Trek fans have had extremely strong negative feelings about this new show (myself included) so now that it's out let's talk about it. Let's hold off on any major spoilers until page 2.

I watched the first episode with full expectations off not liking it and nitpicking it to death. I'm going to call it a mixed bag. The first 20 minutes opened up like a typical Star Trek story and after that it shifted and we started seeing the characters get introduced.

Elastigirl does a good good job and looks good for her age. The way she sits in the Captains chair it's very different from every other skipper I've seen.

The fat female Jem'Hadar/Klingon first officer will be a comedic character from what I'm seeing and that's probably a good idea.

Paul Giamatti plays a good psychotic villain.

A lot of characters and storyline to discuss. While I'm still very skeptical I will says it was better than I expected. We'll see.

Cami may not be an innocent babe as has appeared. She might be protecting Tommy from what's about to happen. At least all story lines have been advanced

SPOILER

Cami is so far out of her depth and she's about to get burned. Gallino is setting her up and used her to get rid of Tommy so he can move in and take the company. Monty needed a cautious guy like Tommy to be a counter weight to his high risk taking.

As far as Ainsley and the non-binary..I give Taylor Sheridan as standing ovation for taking on these fruit-loop people and showing just how ridiculous they can be.

As for Cooper, I don't know if the video of him saving Ariana/Monica from being attacked will help or hurt..

One more episode to go for the season.

If the line of scrimmage is outside the 15-yard line:

Ball is moved 15 yards forward

Automatic first down

If the line of scrimmage is inside the 15-yard line:

The ball is placed at the spot of the foul, which will be inside the end zone boundary, so the ball is placed at the 2-yard line (the NCAA’s standard enforcement spot for DPI in the end zone).
Damn..this is a fricking great game
He's laying the facts on this chick who got shot
Andrew Jackson was shot at and the gun misfired but captured his attacker, Richard Lawrence, and beat him with his cane until bystanders pulled him off....
The world has about a 120 year petroleum based infrastructure. It's in just about everything. The control of oil directly impacts commerce and energy. Places like Venezuela and Iran supply bad actors that are used against us and our allies.

With the rise of AI, power is more important than ever. Oil will just about always be a factor in wars...

Seattle's new ultra-woke mayor has triggered chaos by ordering police not to arrest people doing drugs on the streets of the city plagued by crime and homelessness.

Democratic socialist Katie Wilson, 43, was sworn in as the city's 58th mayor on Friday.

The progressive politician who co-founded the Transit Riders Union has already taken steps that concerned residents and law enforcement officials say will destroy Seattle.

Wilson demonstrated her soft-on-crime ideology by demanding cops let public drug use slide - a practice that proved disastrous in the past - according to the Seattle Police Officers Guild (SPOG).

'The recent naive, ignorant political decision to not arrest offenders for open drug use in the City of Seattle is horrifically dangerous and will create more death and societal decay,' SPOG President Mike Solan wrote in a statement on Sunday.

'It embodies an enormous flaw in those in our community who think that meeting people where they are, who are in the throes of addiction, is the correct path to lift them up.'

Solan, who leads the union representing all 1,300 members of the Seattle Police Department (SPD), slammed the policy as 'suicidal empathy.'

Trump will be clearing that infestation out pretty soon I predict...then on to NY City

This board loves to hate every movie and tv show.

Isn't that the damn truth. The people on this thread "hate" this show so much that they'll watch every episode (maybe a few times) so they can post just how unhappy there are.

Really good episode. Just when I thought I was out, it pulls me back in

Agreed. It was a very well done analogy with what Angela was doing compared to what Tommy and Cami and the rest of the team are facing.
Taylor Sheridan has some new material for season 3 of Landman. He's already got a story where the oil companies "Landman" is at odd with a drug kingpin and this should play well next season
