So what. There are many instances where taking a human life is considered acceptable, maybe even by you.

But the premise of claiming a fertilized egg isn’t human life is disingenuous.
If the term is being used literally, and not as VERY imprecise shorthand, I agree with you 100%.

I've done no such thing.

And that's generally the issue with most of the opposition here.

I appreciate your honesty.
Most pro-abortion folks try to mollify the issue with untruths.
I genuinely pray for every person who finds themselves facing an unwanted pregnancy.

Also, so we're clear:

quote:

ba·by

noun

1.
a very young child, especially one newly or recently born.
"his wife's just had a baby"

This is not a point I'll ever concede, regardless of how imprecise or misleading some may choose to be with their choice of words.

I think there's a term for that... let me try to remember... oh yeah:

Sociopath.

There is no….And.

That’s what you seem to have a problem with.

They are, or they are not. A is A

Once you start that discussion though, where does it end? History is replete with examples of it going badly
There is no counter argument to the premise that “fertilization” or “implantation” would be the EASIEST and most objective standard to apply. The problem is that it respects only the purported “rights” of the blastocyst or embryo and completely disregards the known autonomy rights of the pregnant woman.

Philosophically, I have a problem with completely subjugating the autonomy of a sapient human to the maybe-rights of an organism that is not even aware of its own existence. I am willing to tolerate some imprecision to find a reasonable balance.

You could've saved us both a lot of time if you'd just led off by saying you have no point.

Do you hunt? Like steak and eggs? Believe that self-defense is a natural right or that capital punishment is necessary for a healthy society?

The person who is deliberately trying to avoid the point is you.

You just wish it didn’t exist, so this you try (badly) to ignore it.

Do you eat bacon? A “life” (pig) was taken so that you may do so.

Do you drink beer? Multiple lives (barley & hops at a minimum) was ended for your enjoyment.

If you MEAN “human life,” say it.

How? By asking you to expand on your point?

a reasonable balance

I don’t think there is one; few on either “side” will ever change their opinion.

Should a parent be allowed to end the life of their pre-born child?

In the US, the current Supreme Court decision is likely the most workable: Let states decide, via democratic vote.

To start that argument, I think you should go back to basic biology.

When intercourse happens, what is the goal? An individual’s goal may be very different than the biological purpose for the act.

That’s where humanity gets it wrong IMO. We have ceased by and large to instruct that this is the reason it exists, and are solely focused on preventing its purpose.

Why? Your answer to that I’d find interesting. I’ll withhold mine for the moment.

There is no expansion to the point. A member of the species is simply that, nothing more, nothing less.

Your wish to expand it is to establish value on each, or lack of value.

Cool. Then you shouldn't be in the dark about why it's a useless point.
