The UK was in Afghanistan before us and we technically assisted them and it wasn’t under article 5. They’ve been there forever though

Germany never had any chance whatsoever of winning World War 2 in Europe.
They’d never have subjugated the UK, and the Soviets were always going to steamroll them—just a matter of when.
Not discounting our contribution at all, but the only difference would be that the Iron Curtain could have been at the Rhine/Scheldt instead of where it ended up.

NATO urged the US to help with Ukraine and Ukraine isn't even a member. Its not literally invokimg Article 5...but wouldnt we all say it's the same thing?
