Ah ok. Now it makes a bit more sense. So 900/month per kid. Sounds reasonable to me. Also sounds like it may be time to consider the lesser of the breadwinners in your situation stay at home. I still don’t consider this a crisis though.

I personally am not the one struggling here, we are doing fine financially, but I am a fan of helping out those in need and my point is if we are gonna be spending bullshite dollars then take it away from Ukraine and other BS programs that don’t work and maybe help some of our fellow man get their kids in early schooling. Early childhood education is linked to preventing lots of later criminal/poor behaviors. People talk about solving crime at its root and early childhood education is a big player in doing that. I support it.

Yeah let me just take them to work with me

Mom works too. Not sure you’ve seen the prices of starter homes these days my friend but we are not in olden times…

Do you pay for childcare? The price is outrageous. There is a childcare crisis. Vance was correct in saying there aren’t enough providers and that’s what making the cost of childcare so high.

I bet insurance requirements and industry regulations are a barrier to entry.

3 kids makes sense. You really need to consider either you or your wife staying home unless you both are making bank then grin and bare it.
You could hire a nanny. Coud be some extra benefits besides just childcare.

Nannies are more expensive than daycare and don’t particularly educate or develop children.

My wife works for the benefits, her healthcare benefits are much better than mine and have saved us lots of $ over the years. She also brings in decent income. We save where we can but things are outrageous. My kids will be in public school soon and it can’t get here soon enough. When they do get there, they will have a leg up on the kids who could not afford early childhood education.

Whenever the govt gets involved to make things more affordable they become less affordable and the government gets bigger and our debt grows.

How much more over 36 K do you or your spouse earn? Put a pencil this thing.

I agree day care is too expensive but not a "crisis".

Maybe Walz was talking about the 400,000 kids they lost.

At least they’re not in cages.

So open a daycare. Lots of shite is obscenely expensive…doesn’t make it a crisis. I got my own shite to pay for, I raised my own kids, now all you parents want me to pay for yours too.

Wages have been mostly stagnant while prices have shot through the roof. Something has to give. I have no answer for why day care suddenly started costing the price of a mortgage for a nice home. It was never cheap but now it’s outrageous.

Haven’t you heard?! Just don’t have kids! Don’t repopulate! Forego normalcy, the nuclear family, the American dream! End your bloodline and you can afford what you want.

it's expensive as shite. that's the crisis. There is a shortage of availability, so the providers can charge whatever the frick they want and they do
If that's true then regulations must make barrier to entry almost impossible to get into the business. Usually if a shortage exists, there are people who willingly fill that void. So what is the reason others don't jump on it?

I think insurance and compliance is difficult to navigate and expensive, or so I’ve heard. I’ve offhandedly mentioned opening a daycare in order to print money and those are the factors that usually come up in conversation.

Maybe consider getting a better job with good health benefits to support your family.

Maybe, but not as much of a leg up as children who stay home with their mothers. There is not a "child care provider" on the planet who could have cared for my babies better than I did.
