I'm talking about concealed carrying IF you travel to another state and your state says you don't need a permit.

So what happens when the organizations in South Dakota stop issuing CCW permits because it is no longer required in South Dakota?

While I am not against what they have done here, it is not practical until the other states that reciprocate do so as well...

I seriously DGAF about gay couples; I'm talking about concealed carrying IF you travel to another state and your state says you don't need a permit.

Not the point I made.
I agree with what you're stating, but if gay marriage is recognized in any state, whether that state allows it or not, or if your drivers license is valid in any state, how is it possible that a clearly stated Constitutional right can be dismissed in other states?

If they do not then I cannot find another issue with it... Like I said, I fully support it...

Not disagreeing with your premise HOWEVER if it was clearly stated then none of us would need permits.

ETA: IMO we should be able to carry without permits and openly if we want to

my only concern would be travel to other states where a carry permit is reciprocated...

Not a concern at all

As far as every other state is concerned you do not have a permit to carry concealed. Thus no reciprocity.

I agree. My point is, it would seem like a slam dunk case in front of SCOTUS.
A state cannot discriminate against a persons rights just because people in that state haven't "OK.ed" it. Can a state claim that the rights of a black person are not valid in their state so they don't have to comply.

Already done in Arkansas (Gods Country) now working on Castle Law, and Firearms Freedom Act, which makes it illegal to enforce federal gun laws, making those attempting it subject to arrest.

It is a nice thought and while I do not disagree with you on principle, on practicality, you let me know how it works out for you.

It's actually a priciple that has been gaining steam for the last 14 years or so.

It would be nice ownership and carry was standard from state to state BUT unfortunately it is not the world we live in and it is not going to change...

Not with that Fudd attitude but luckily you really don't speak for the gun owners that know the relevant history here. The entire concept of concealed weapon ban was born out of keeping "those others" from defending themselves. Permitting schemes that came about in the early 1900's were basically a way to ensure that the well-connected and monied had a way to protect themselves at all times without drawing attention to the fact that they were armed. At some point SCOTUS will have to address the issue at its core and the striking down of may-issue permitting will be the first of several steps. It's going to take decades to remove, just like it took decades to establish these laws in the first place but it's hardly impossible.

I wish we had that here in LA
The same state that made resisting arrest a hate crime is not likely to do this. It was tried and failed recently.

I want to trade in my car for a tank. That okay? But I don't want to get trained on the tank. I just want to drive it around.

The entire point of the permit is you have taken a safety course and proven you can shoot the dang thing. I'm 100% in favor of the legal right to carry, but damn y'all getting giddy over not having a safety course and shooting practice kinda scares me.

You can road hunt up there. Just have to stop first, at least in South Dakota. I love that place.
