What's wrong with him saying "interest rates have risen and that is a damper on the economy but the Trump trade war that must be fought is a large supply chain interrupter that consumers will have to pay for". Which is exactly the truth.

He's said this on multiple occasions, offhand I can recall him saying the farmers will need to endure some temporarily higher prices for the betterment of the country's long term.

By the way, I'm still waiting for you to reply to my last question that you keep sidestepping around...

How would you propose to handle a situation where country X specifically targets critical industries in your country in order to shut them down over years, then use their newfound monopoly to their advantage?

So those number are before this week and the large number of companies reporting this week. Got it.

AND if you are ok with Trump saying what I posted then you agree he is being disingenuous as I stated in the OP.

He hired Powell and fired Yellen.

Nope you didn't. You sidestepped around the question by typing a 1000 word essay with the basic idea that it was impossible for China to have a monopoly...

And I didn't even mention China.

that was the answer and it was exactly spot on.

You have yet to give an example of this hypothetical you dreamed up ever happening.

Tariffs should not be easy to impose and they should be easy to end. I don't who I would rather have the authority to impose tariffs but I know they should not be political tools imposed on Americans.

I would prefer tariffs be outlawed altogether.

Yep I've learned that when he's cornered with a question that he can't answer without supporting tariffs, he just starts dancing around the question

You are correct---the growth in the economy is slowing. I doubt very seriously you see 4% GDP growth this quarter but if we do it will be the last quarter of that high growth until this trade war ends.

You ask stupid hypotheticals and never look at the facts.

You are on here whining about me calling BS on Trump for pounding on the FED chief he appointed over a 1/4 of 1 percent interest rate hike and you think a friggin 25% tariff on steel imports and a coming 25% tariff on virtually all imports from China is a small deal.

How incredibly stupid is that logic?

Is OP asserting that rising rates don't impact the economy?

Just need some clarity here.

It is not false at all. Very few companies have mentioned the very small increases in interest rates will impact their earnings. Point to one.

Oh gawd, I said I wouldn't come in here but this is such an asinine statement I can't let it go.

Let me give you TWO examples (there are many more) that DO NOT have %*#@ to do with earnings:

People chasing returns - lower interest rates mean lower returns in interest driven vehicles which push people into other financial instruments (i.e. the stock market) to chase said desired returns, more money going into the market means a higher market.

Stock Buy-Backs - companies have been doing historic stock buy backs specifically because of lower interest rates, stock buybacks directly push up stock prices. I mean just google this %#$*.

None of this has to do with earnings.

I mean FCK dude when do you stop and realize you don't actually know what the fck you're talking about...
