It had to as salaries did not match the pace of inflation

9% YoY how much of that increase is due to higher prices from tariffs?
Think the point is people who supposedly believe they are in a worse situation and also believe it will get even worse spent 9% more this year than last year (regardless if the prices increase or not). Those people obviously can't be that worried about the future if they are spending more on non-necessities.

You're making the same mistake as Biden...you can't argue with peoples lived experiences and tell them what they are experiencing and feeling day to day is not happening.

The only people I see bitching about it are people who have ALWAYS been TDS never-Trumpers... and they were the same dipshits who said NOTHING when Biden's economy and inflation was much worse... and then went to the polls to vote for Kamala.

Downtown San Antone is probably dead because all the illegals are scared of ICE. And that cheesy Riverwalk was played out years ago...

Inflation is down? What does that mean? The prices haven’t risen in a year? Great…. They are still ridiculous compared to what they used to be. Downtown San antone is dead despite all the cool stuff we have recently built cause everybody is broke.

Black Friday sales showed 9% increase over 2024. It doesn't pass the sniff test that people who believe they are worse off today and are expecting things to get even worse for them would spend more money (be it cash or credit card) on non-essential and non-necessities than they did in 2024.

San Antonio has far less illegals than Austin, Dallas or Houston. You have no idea what you are talking about.

Black Friday sales hit a record under Biden, how did that help him? just because consumers spend doesnt mean they think the economy is great. they think its bad and will blame the current party in power

2024: LINK

Shoppers spent a record $10.8 billion online on Friday, over 10% more than they did last Black Friday, according to data from Adobe Analytics.

2023: LINK

Black Friday generated $9.8 billion in U.S. online sales, according to Adobe Analytics, up 7.5% from a year ago.

Makes no sense to me that you believe your current situation is bad and getting worse, but you spend more money on non-necessities.

Black Friday spending was more than double that of 2017.

Is the economy twice as good as it was in 2017?

And the Democrats will win the midterms. Trump needs to worry more about inflation and less about the Ukraine. He seems to be all over the place, but he has neglected the people that got him elected.

my biggest concern is all these "investments"...i dont see QATAR building any new refineries...and the companies that are building new jobs here are being FU'd by the ICE nutjobs...like georgia

we need to figure out a single path and STAY on it

What does that have to do with claims about inflation or "investment"?

Not what I'm saying. My point is that if I believed that my situation was worse today than a year ago and that situation is likely to get even worse, I would not be spending more on non-necessities.

I thought we were discussing "Trumps Economy" and people saying they are worse off and/or worried that things will get worse for them. I'm saying them spending more on non-necessities doesn't pass the sniff test.

People don't always say what they believe or believe what they say. But they always LIVE what they Believe.

I understand, and I'm not trying to call you out, I just don't think a marginal increase in black friday spending is indicative of anything.... especially when black friday sales have more than doubled over the last ten years.
