re: Macro wakeup call - what happens to price when demand goes up and supply goes down?
Posted by DaveyJones12 on 4/12/26 at 11:12 am to tigahtig
Is demand actually going up? I know summer is usually peak oil season, but I think this year with everything going on people will cut down on trips and push plans out. WE THE PEOPLE took down budlight when they went full Tranny, and WE can definitely make some sacrifices to keep Prices reasonable. Maybe Trump can write an EO capping oil at like $75 a barrel and gas at $3? IMO that’s reasonable

One of the 10 points were agreeing to is “continued Iranian control of the hormuz,” so I’m not sure you’re right
re: Any word on Iran giving up the enriched uranium?

One of Iran’s 10 points we accepted as a workable framework is “full acceptance of enrichment.”
So at this point Iran believes that they can continue towards a nuclear weapon. Not sure what we actually got out of this especially if the hormuz is now tolled

For how much? Free like before? Or $2 million a pop?
Unrelated how many missles can $700 billion a year buy?

Hormuz Toll
Posted by DaveyJones12 on 4/7/26 at 6:17 pm
I haven’t seen anything about Iran dropping their ridiculous tolling fees for the Hormuz. $2 million a pop is like…$700 billion a year. Does anyone know?

I can’t believe no one is addressing your little Delphi quip…

Respectfully, and I mean respectfully, what do ladyboys have to do with any of this?

Of course not. But Iran doesn’t have a second amendment right, just like they didn’t have nukes before all of this.
Of course they were trying really hard to get them, but they absolutely did not have them. Didn’t we blow up their nuke program summer anyway?

re: 2.5% Oil that passes through Hormuz heads to the US, 3.8% Europe

A lot of those countries are our allies. They let us build bases in them. Of course they don’t like Iran, especially now. But they’ve gotta be pretty pissed at us for abandoning those bases and letting them get shin kicked by Iranian missiles for a few weeks.
re: Governor Jeff Landry reelection

He didn’t “get” jack shite. Kiffin and Wade are both being paid ENORMOUS amounts of money to coach college sports teams. That, ultimately, is why they’re here.
Landry did make a huge arse of himself during the Kiffin saga, though, even saying things like “we don’t need to even pay coaches that much.” Thankfully the real power brokers stuffed that USL whimp in a locker before he did too much damage.

Do you think China/India etc. are going to simply reduce their intake of oil?
Or do you think they’re going to start offering more money to other suppliers that aren’t affected by this issue leading to an increase in the global price of oil?
Which one? Hmm…truly difficult to say.

If you’re Iran…

Not a specific supreme leader, whoever it is today until we bomb them, but just the nebulous “Iran” as a whole…
Would you trade a few dozen leaders & your nuclear program for a tollgate on the Hormuz? They stand to take in over $73 billion per year off that.

No. Almost no ships are US flagged because the strict regulations about operating as a US flagged vessel. There are only 10 tankers US flagged, and they are almost exclusively used to transport oil between US ports.
There is one US flagged tanker currently in the ME. It had to be escorted through Hormuz by a Navy destroyer. Afterwards it docked in Bahrain for repairs, where it was struck by an Iranian missile killing one and injuring two others.

Not that guy but air superiority is a defined term with a set of requirements that the us engagement in Iran has not met. When we have the ability to land an unescorted c130 on the other side of their mountains it will be met
If you want to redefine it to mean what you said, then we’ve had uninterrupted air superiority over the entire world since the 80s. That’s ridiculous

10k US troops and we had to tell them to run and hide. Get your head out of the ground man.

Iranian missiles and drones struck the headquarters of U.S. Naval Forces Central Command at Naval Support Activity Bahrain, the airport, residential buildings and a hotel on the island. The naval base typically hosts some 8,300 service members and their families, according to the Navy.

Then what’s the point if we just evacuate them and let them get blown up? What the frick was the point in the last 15 years of the GWOT if the network we built in that god forsaken fricking desert is just target fodder for a SINGLE one of those god forsaken fricking countries?!?!

I’m reading the 75% of our bases in the ME have been hit with missiles. Low (maybe no) casualties since they were evacuated but man…hard to believe we will be able to (OR if we even WANT to…) rebuild any of them…
