The mission of the CDC is not to "protect us from everything" so your post is a non sequitur.

It's going to take 15 year of focused and unrelenting effort for a whole host of good people to "drain the swamp". One man standing alone may not be able to do it.

TRUMP is, however, the only hope that the We the People have.

Has it been determined what scared the CDC guy in ATL that went missing and later found in a riverbed?

I haven't heard about this interesting story.

I don't know. I don't remember the details of the specific case you're talking about. But I do remember there's been a few folks who were found dead from the CDC over the years. And a whole host of other similarly employed biologists.

These people still haven't squared the fact that this thing isn't as deadly as the common flu. Why is Tucker feeding into the fear porn is the question I am curious about.

The fear is that the flu has a cure (sort of), whereas the CV is an unknown.

Did y'all catch during the presser last night that the one dude said a vaccine won't be ready until next year's flu season, but he dropped the nugget about possibly having an antiviral available well before then.

I don't think we are going to have to worry about waiting for the vaccine because I believe they have an antiviral pill that will clear it up.

And yes, if you're going to factor "how deadly" something is you can't just go off the mortality rate. You gotta factor rate of spread.

You are just making shite up. It is likely that coronavirus has a higher R0 and CFR than influenza.

Who told you that? Are you sure they said "cure" (sort of or not)? There is a partially effective vaccine for the seasonal flu. Period. Full stop.

Otherwise, the treatment is going to be exactly the same as for any other viral URI. Now, COVID19 has some additional complications that sometime occur, but (CAVEAT: SO FAR, BASED ON WHAT WE KNOW NOW) it isn't anything beyond a very severe strain of flu, virulent community acquired pneumonia strain, etc.

In fact, its infectiousness may not be as bad as originally thought as a lot of these spreads have been very close quarters, quarantined on cruise ships, etc.

So.. like Tamiflu or Xofluza that will shorten your the duration of and lessen the severity of your symptoms if you take early enough after exposure. Problem with that seems to be that you don't know you have it for up to what.. 14 days before you start having symptoms.

I don’t want to put myself out there to catch it, but it hasn’t worried me too much or made me change my life.

Other than not going to Disneyworld this year for spring break because my Filipina wife (no pics) doesn’t want to be around all of those Asians.

There's only 15 cases here stateside and I think all of them are Japanese American. Or do I have that wrong? In any event, there's only 15, and according to at least one study I've seen (and I've heard there's more now corroborating it), this virus is primarily a concern for Asian peoples.

No, I'm not just "making shite up." That doesn't necessarily mean I'm right, but my opinions have basis.

I thought I read somewhere where California alone had 33 confirmed cases today. I hope I thought wrong.

Some years I’ve had the vaccine and had the flu. Some years I haven’t had the vaccine and didn’t get the flu. And vise versa on both points.

So personal experience has molded my personal opinion on the cure. Sort of.

Ummm....

Question... if 100 people get the common flu, how many of them, on average, will die?

If 100 people get Covid19, how many of the, on average, will die?

Now... which is more deadly?

100 infected in China will have a higher mortality rate than 100 infected in the US.

Well, as I said, that was according to Trump and the CDC officials last night. I don't know if there's been more pop up today. I haven't heard.

If so it would be interesting to know their ethnicities.

Exactly. And also, I believe it may be the case that more people in Asia will contract the virus to begin with. For a variety of reasons.

A government organization designed to prevent/mitigate the spread of diseases within our society seems to fall within even a very libertarian view of government.

Akin and related to protecting our borders, maintaining roads, etc....
