So, what's the end game in a place like Chicago? 3 months? 6 months? What if it gets cleaned up for a few weeks, then thugs and gangbangers overrun the city right after the Marines or NG leave? Then, what was the point?

I just think this effort is going nowhere in some cities and there is going to be an incident which makes him look terrible. Mark it down.

Destroy and disrupt criminal networks and infrastructure that’s been years or decades in the making, establish the reality that if and when things get out of control in the way they have that there is the capability and willingness to apply the full force and resources of the federal government, should it come to that, thus the aspect of deterrence. But mainly I’d say the destruction of the organization that they’ve had the benefit of being without any real disruption for all these many years, a consequence of Democratic leadership in place that hasn’t had the motivation or willpower or fortitude to take head on.
Take apart what they’ve been building up for years, then keep some reasonable pressure on them once that first step is substantially accomplished, ideally “reasonable” ongoing pressure from the local authorities…..the criminal organizations will never be able to “rebuild” and be the force of nature again that they have been for quite some time. What that translates into as far as reduction in crime, particularly violent crime affecting the collateral innocent, I couldn’t tell you, but I suspect it would be a pretty significant and noticeable difference. Resulting in a stark increase in quality of life for said innocent citizens, aka innocent Americans.
**The most important part that you may want to hear is when the feds consider their mission “complete.” That would, IMO, be when the heavy lifting of dismantling what’s been building up in that situation is substantially accomplished.

They’ve been in many major cities with no incidents. Trump can tweet and people think he’s terrible. Go round up the illegals and stop the violence.
