When Facebook started allowing old / non-college people access. Imagine a world without all that garbage.

We we’re last united on and right after 9/11. So, shortly thereafter but the Bush/Gore election was pretty ugly.

Nothing new. Politics started the civil war.

When retards started acting like politics is a rivalry. One side can't let the other side have their say because they hate the idea of giving them a platform. Both sides do this shite and it's becoming a growing problem

Also the media loves to fan the flames of this hatred.

Look I don’t think Obama was perfect by any stretch but if this is your big example you need to grow up.

Assasination of JFK, IMO.

I think LBJ had a lot to do with it and had a lot to do with the war machine that is the US and the defense contracts. I think this was the beginning of big government and their schemes and dishonesty. Not saying it wasn’t there beforehand, but I think that’s when it really got out of hand. I

I was just talking to someone about this today. There are extremists on so many issues and I think it’s made worse by social media. Race issues, women/metoo, law enforcement, gun control, gay marriage and I could go on and on.

I really hate all of this hate.

Bush/Gore and 24 Hours News. That was the catalyst for greater divide and non-civil discourse. Then you had a bunch of accelerators that followed - Iraq, Banking Collapse, Obama.

Republicans and Democrats, liberals and conservatives have a relationship very much like a parent and a child. The Republicans have always been the stoic, traditional, responsible, fiscally sound, mature, sacrificing, stuck-in-their-ways adults and the Democrats have always been the starry eyed, irresponsible, volatile, open-minded, naive, fiscally irresponsible, impulsive, selfish, progressive children.

If that data suggests anything it suggests that each side digs their heels in when the other gets a little power. No different than any other parent-child relationship.

The difference between the two sides is more than just political. It's really an expression of the personality differences of two main group types. For example, I can honestly say I don't know a single liberal in my personal life that is good with their finances and I'm not just talking about the ones that don't have money. Not a one. On the other hand, I only know one conservative in my personal life that is bad with his personal budgets and I'm not even really sure if he's actually conservative at his core. I think he just plays one on the surface

At this point a majority of Americans are not going to bow down to socialism.

They tried their BS a decade or so too soon.

I think it goes back to the whinging LWNJ's after Bush/Kerry and "I'm sorry..." videos after Bush was elected. Think that is when you started to see how 20-somethings that couldn't handle reality and civil discourse would react and now they are in their mid- to late-30's.

both parties are perfect in their own bases eyes, or they will pretend they are because "the other party is evil" so i cant admit that mine is wrong on anything

While I agree with you and I'm also not a member of either party, I think it's way, way worse with liberals and Democrats. You really can't even have a conversation with them anymore, sometimes not even in person. They're also so caught up in their own Echo Chambers that they just assume everyone they meet shares their ideologies. Conservatives don't do this. They're skeptical of you until they talk to you a little bit and can feel you out. You can always talk to Republicans and conservatives about any topic and not get shouted down. They will almost always engage you in the discussion even if they are really passionate about it. The so-called tolerant liberals are no longer tolerant, not even to conversation.

It got really bad during the Obama years, but there's no doubt when the divide started growing: the day Rush Limbaugh went on the air.

The country is not as divided as you might think. The far left owns all the media, does whatever necessary to push agenda, uses class warfare, and is vocally loud on social media to make it seems like it is.

They are very good at it I have to admit.

election of obama woke up a lot of subconscious hate in the white community and trump has intensified it

You think white people are hateful today? If even a small percentage of white people decided to be hateful or had hate in their heart this country would look completely different. Every minority group would be subjugated. Think one of the Muslim countries but Christian.

When have white people in the history of this planet ever not gotten what they wanted? Only a handful of times and many of those times were only because white people just got tired of fighting it like the withdrawal of colonization. But look at how all those countries turned out where white people have left. Reminds me of the quote, "I have seen much of the world and it is dark. Rome is the light." *no racial pun intended.
