Pages full of millinials shitting on boomers and boomers shitting on millinials but the government is the real factor for the demise.
Boomers didn’t do shite about it when they came of ruling age and we will see if the millinials will.

Tax and medical debt can be assessed against a decedent’s estate. If your kid ever signed on as a co-signer to your consumer debt, they’re obviously on the hook. Many states have filial responsibility statutes where kids get stuck for the obligations of their bankrupt parents after death.
Basically if you leave behind a messy estate, far beyond knickknacks and other assorted garbage you’ve accumulated, your kids have to deal with it - financially or otherwise. But what do you care, right? You’re too busy rockin’ out with Fleetwood Mac in the great beyond.
ETA: TrueTiger is correct, as well. Boomers have spent us into an unfixable financial situation as a nation, although I was speaking only to the personal level.

Unfortunately, it' hard for me to have sympathy for the group that looks at an overburdened entitlement system and points fingers at boomers..........THEN.............demands enormous increases to government entitlements that make the original frick ups look cheap.
It would be like being married to a spouse who over spends and deciding, "I'll show them" by promptly running out and maxing out all remaining credit cards.

My mom is still alive! I did get a college education that I did not squander, but I haven't inherited anything except goodvalues from my parents.

If your kid ever signed on as a co-signer to your consumer debt, they’re obviously on the hook.

But what do you care, right? You’re too busy rockin’ out with Fleetwood Mac in the great beyond.
As to your point about TrueTiger, I already responded to him. If you are actually a young person who wishes for the government to become more frugal, then I'm 100% joined at the hip with you and will vote for anyone you can find who shares that opinion.
Unfortunately, you are GREATLY outnumbered by your peers

Boomers are selfish.

That's bullshite - The only mistake we made was to think that the younger generations would have the same patriotic sensibilities that we did - and that they would rather work hard than seek someone else to provide them all their desires and avoid hurting their feelings in the process.
WE are the generation that worked our asses off to provide you the infrastructure you are now allowing to deteriorate and give you all the hi-tech foundations that fuel your social media obsessions and sent you off to school to become leeches on society.
WE were brought up tough = "Sticks and stones my break our bones, but WORDs will never hurt them." You squeamish little waifs catch the vapors if someone doesn't cater to you or doesn't give a shite about your preferred pronoun.
For MOST of us, our children and grandchildren earn more in a week than we ever did in month. And even at that, they are not committed to the individual responsibilities to the nation that was a common thread of our generation. Most of you would go hide behind your mother's skirts if a Pearl Harbor event happened today. In our age, every able bodied man from bums to super rich headed off to defend the natipn.
You miserable creeps harping on 'boomers' as if that showed you had an ounce of understanding or a synapse to form one, chap my arse. You are reduced to bumper sticker epithets, because your entire stage on which you so proudly preen is made of rotten styrofoam and will collapse on you gloriously.
You could not string together a cogent explanation of your 'position' if you had a week to prepare. I expect nothing more from you but the obligatory 'ol boomer' with your thumb stuck up your arse.

Inevitably though, you get these boomer twat types or Arab sheikhs who blow all their inherited knowledge and wealth on gold plated lambos, which results in “undoing” the work the previous generations put in.
Precisely what is a 'boomer'??? I was born during the depths of the depression but came of age in the mid fifties. Very few of us had financially significant inheritance - other than good upbringing. Most of us worked our way thru college on our own dime + got married and started families. Those that didn't went off to Viet Nam. Far fewer than 10% of us ever got divorced. Less than 1% of us ever got in trouble with the law or became a public leech.
But yes - my generation is at fault for making life much too easy for our children and grandchildren.

quote:I don't have an answer to that. Every boomer I know, and I know plenty, are either spending theirs because they have to for living expenses or they are living off interest and not touching principle.
Why are Boomers acting like this?
I'm a 73 yr. old boomer that is living off of interest and putting some back into savings. My kids and grand kids stand to get a few extra bucks if gov't don't take it.

Worthless posturing from a generation that sent their children to die in a war meant to satisfy their own greed.

Muh social security and Medicare

The infrastructure is collapsing because in your generations never ending devotion to materialism, you sold out the principles of this nation. You are responsible for the cratering of multiple industries resulting in a lack of jobs for the little entitled shits you raised. And since destroying American industry wasn’t enough for you diabetic riddled slobs, you supported policy after policy allowing the importation of cheap labor to fill what little was left.

Tough?
You’re so tough you let the Chinese, democrats, and RINO’s you spent decades supporting rape this nation and now blame everyone and anything else but yourselves for the society you’ve created.

Everything costs more because of the debt you’ve straddled the nation with, you fricking moron.

How convenient of you to forget all of the men and women that ran off to fight the terrorists at your request, motherfricker.

Winston Churchill wrote in the 1930s that he was very worried about Anglo society.
He looked around and saw a generation that had had stopped passing down their culture to their children. They had stopped teaching good values.
Our culture is in a state of collapse, and it goes back to this process. And the fact that we no longer believe in ourselves.

I don’t have an issue with leaving an inheritance, but what does your statement have to do with money?
It’s a sign of a larger problem.
It means you no longer see a human connection with the people around you, and most specifically, to your children. And that you have no sense of obligation to them. You also no longer believe in yourself, and your ancestors, to the point where you no longer want to perpetuate your culture, and your bloodline.
It also means you’re more interesting in pursuing money and pleasure to exclusion of anything else.
If life has no greater meaning than consumerism. Which is what that suggests. Then we are broken.
