Guys like Romney, McCain, Murkowski, Bushes, Cassidy, Hutchinson, Ryan, were never (R)s. They would have never been elected as a Dim, so they ran as a Manchurian candidate. And people like McConnell and Boehner covered for them, until they couldnt. The RINOs were forced to expose themselves, when the votes got tight

It happens every season. There were Democrats who endorsed Bush, Republicans who endorsed Kerry...and on down the line every Presidential season.
