This needs a closer look, a deeper dive. Now do cities and lets see what that looks like.

Comparing metropolitan area’s to rural area’s in Missouri is difficult because of how the state divides state taxes . Taxes are not kept locally they are spread out across the state. In Missouri most of the state taxes are from KC and St Louis. These taxes are spread out and spent over the entire state.

The metropolitan area’s do have poverty stricken area’s, but if they kept all there tax money locally it might be a little different. If the Democrat leaders of the two major cities kept their tax money and spent it locally there is a good chance of it being mismanaged, but the state is already doing a good job at wasting tax money.

Persons in poverty, percent
Worst County is Pemiscot County 29.1%
Population 18,300
Best County St Charles 5.7 (suburb of St. Louis)
Population 360,000

St Louis City 22%
Population 301,000
St Louis County 10.5%
Population 999,000
Jefferson County(South St Louis Metro) 8.7%
Population 225,000
St Charles County 5.7%
Population 360,000

Jackson County(KC) 13.5%

Cass County(KC) 8.1%
107,000
Clay County(KC) 7%

The first 35 counties with the highest persons to poverty percent rate in Missouri are rural counties (114 counties in Missouri). St Louis City is not in a county, but there poverty rate is 22% which would rank them 5th worst.

8 of the top 10 with best persons to poverty rank are in Metropolitan area’s. The other 2 in the top 10 are the counties that make up Jefferson City.

Mississippi (19.75%)

I love it when this is pulled out as a gotcha by idiots.

If they were smart they would look at where they poverty is in MS and see they have a Dem US Rep, vote blue for every statewide office every election, and is dominated by democrat leadership.

Take out the 4th district of MS, controlled by Dems, and we jump in the rankings.

Truth hurts as usual.
