But let me guess... not for mandatory sentencing enhancement for crimes committed using firearms.

Unfortunately, there is nothing much we can do. I will be filing a mail fraud form with the PO but I know full well it's a waste of time.

We have had a lot of them stolen too. You know what has stopped it? Sending them in a padded envelope or a larger envelope with a type of thick card stock in it with the card envelope in between. They look for the obvious card envelopes and single those out.

If they go through Memphis sorting, they are almost guaranteed to get stolen. We have had cards in the past with no gift cards inside not get delivered at a high rate. Obviously because they ripped them open looking for gift cards and then discarded them,

Another key component of this proactive approach was implementing in April 2022, Project Safe Neighborhood - a daily review by the Office and our law enforcement partners of every firearms arrest in the District to determine, using objective criteria about the person arrested and the firearm recovered, whether the case should be charged in U.S. District Court or D.C. Superior Court. Since April 2022, the Office has accepted for prosecution in U.S. District Court more than 150 gun offenders under this initiative.

There is a fortune to be made with the invention of a soda bottle that has the properties of glass, but it can be thin and strong like the current plastics. Maybe even a liner of some kind for the current bottles. Taste would drastically improve.

I feel sorry for the younger people who have never had a Gatorade in a glass bottle. Man those were good on a hot day right out of the ice.

Yep. I remember the caps were like aluminum or similar.

There were aluminum caps on 10 Oz and 16 Oz glass bottles in the mid 90's.

Glass containers were so much better than plastic.
Programmed drone leftists one week:

"No kangs!! No imperialism!!! No Kangs!!!"

Programmed drone leftists the next week.

"Yes!!! Strip everyone of their journalistic rights in the first amendment!!! Stop them even if it's blatantly unconstitutional!!! Get dictatorial!!! We can't have this person having rights!! Strip them!!!!"
This behavior is not punished the way it should be... then later when they are in jail.... there are Karen's crying again about them being punished unfairly.

"But but but but why is there so much recidivism?!?!? Derrrp!!!"

Embattled former first son Hunter Biden has reportedly moved out of the United States amid mounting legal issues, just a year after his father left the presidential office in 2025.

His attorney, Barry Coburn, disclosed Biden’s current living situation in an April 6 court filing tied to a civil lawsuit over unpaid legal fees. "Mr. Biden lives abroad," the document stated. "He cannot pay his current lawyers."

....... The court document disclosing Biden’s current living situation was submitted in a Washington, D.C., civil court by Winston & Strawn LLP, which previously represented him in a series of criminal cases that drew intense national scrutiny over the years, including a felony gun trial in Delaware and a tax crimes prosecution in California.

According to the filings, the former first son has not paid a "substantial portion" of the fees owed to his legal team. He reportedly has limited financial resources and also cannot afford to hire specialized professionals to assist with the lawsuit, citing instances that Biden manually "hand-searched" his own emails to locate relevant documents rather than relying on outside resources.

Biden also noted during his podcast appearance that he is facing "$17 million in debt … as it relates to my legal fees."

What’s the freaking point of this? You don’t need DOGE to figure out why dealing with the IRS is mind numbing. Just look at the employees.

Correct. You don't. The Department of the Treasury is there already. You go right to them. The IRS is a subset of Treasury.

Any actions of DOGE needs to be on fraud. That's where the savings is right now.

Do you believe that we should incarcerate all criminals for life?

Didn't say that. But slap on the wrist sentences get innocent people killed. There are examples after examples.

quote:

Once someone has been convicted, they have demonstrated that they didn't "grow up and become a productive citizen." Our recidivism rates prove that detaining people doesn't magically equip them with the skills necessary to "grow up and become a productive citizen."

They didn't because they CHOSE not to. And keep on choosing not to. Some idiots just wanna sell dope and hang out instead of working. Some people wanna run chop shops for quick money instead of working. But guess what... they KNOW the consequences if they are caught. Don't they?

quote:

In your model, the President of the United States would be incarcerated until he dies.

Recenter the strawman. you are on your knees hoping to pivot the topic aren't you?

You again missed the part, evidentially, where I also asked if you wanted elected law enforcement and judicial officials to run and get elected on punishing one person or group while telling others they are fine and they won't be prosecuted.

Oh and in your premise that it's supposedly unfair... you still fail to acknowledge the others I mentioned that didn't even get prosecuted for their crimes. That's an issue here isn't it? Fairness? So you choose to hammer on the one that actually was prosecuted and not the ones that skated consequences because of who they are? Surely you jest.

quote:

You're using a lot of emotional and subjective language. The fact that so many people are incarcerated shows that it's not hard to go to prison, either.

I'm not using any of the sort of language. You can't refute that it's very very very very very simple to not go to prison. What is emotional and subjective about that?

And of course it's not hard to go to prison. You just have to volunteer by committing a crime you already know that leads there. They are all volunteers. There wasn't a prison draft. There was no conscription. There was no van going around kidnapping people. They volunteered.

quote:

Institutionalizing and dehumanizing offenders has proven not to be an effective rehabilitative strategy

Yea. That's saved for the victims and how they feel afterwards. Whom you have yet to acknowledge their issues.

quote:

YOU are the one with the low expectation.

False. Completely and entirely false. I believe minorities are fully capable and intelligent enough to get IDs to vote. I think they are smart and resourceful enough. I believe everyone knows what consequences are for their actions. I believe everyone is intelligent and resourceful enough to not need cradle to grave handouts. I believe people can navigate life without harming others multiple times without having to explain it to them like a child. And I believe everyone knows how to already, legitimately make money. I don't believe deviant, loud, and lawless activities are anyone's ""culture"".

quote:

I have no issues with his convictions. You talk about convicts like they are garbage despite the fact that you come here to defend a criminal convict every day. I guess you make exceptions for criminals you like?

I talk about them like grown men and women who know what they are doing when they did it and with that comes the consequences. YOU talk about them like they are too stupid to know what wrong and right is. YOU talk about them like they are too dumb to function without assistance. YOU talk about them like they are too dumb to know how to interact in society. That's YOU woman.

quote:

Inmates work for less than minimum wage. Not every felony has a victim, anyway. You don't know very much at all about the system you're opining about.

Well if they do it anyway.. we have an agreement on some middle ground don't we? What better character and skill building than to be assigned to a road crew laying asphalt? To get construction experience roofing buildings? What about landscaping experience planting trees and shrubs? Actual real world experience that can be used later in life. That is great rehabilitation, right? And the victim gets paid back as well.

And the military option? How about that structure and discipline that would be learned? Patriotism and teamwork that would be fostered?

What you say?
"Hey!!!! Stop paying attention to Swalwell!!! We gotta get Trump!! We got him this time!!!"

quote:

Like what, specifically?

Grow up and become a productive citizen. Life altogether isnt that difficult. You grow up learning, you graduate, you gain employment, you apply yourself, you succeed.

I've seen people that are absolute morons that have become productive members of society and raised children in a two parent household. The formula isn't that hard. It's never been.

quote:

Louisiana taxpayers spend more to fund the Department of Corrections than food stamps.

That's because SNAP is primarily federally funded.

quote:

am not suggesting there is a one-size-fits-all model to rehabilitation. Most people with felony convictions are not gang members.

So what we need? A large campus complete with therapists, psychologists, social workers, massage therapists, feet washers, and nuns with rulers?

There is an epidemic of low expectations in those day and age. "Well they can't help it", "well they are just victims of the system", "well they have to steal to survive", "well they need their candy and soda with EBT, it's a nice treat after such hardship", "they are too dumb to get an ID. It's not their fault"... etc.

quote:

Asking someone a question isn't a strawman. You have a problem with certain criminals. I'm wondering which crimes you find acceptable. If you don't want to address your acceptance of the criminal you throw your support behind every day, just state that plainly instead of calling my question a straw man.

Did he not get his trial? What's your issue?

Is your issue we need to have a law enforcement arm that is elected on the promise to relentlessly investigate and promise to prosecute only certain individuals?

Can't help but notice you ignored the rest. Ignoring the inconvenient is your 2nd pillar of posting. Like you refuse to acknowledge how easy it is not to go to prison and there is 100 percent public knowledge of consequences of committing crimes. And it came right after strawman.

quote:

This actually proves my argument. We have a corrupt penal system. You want to make excuses for mega-wealthy and politically connected celebrities who are convicted of crimes while arguing that every other criminal should either be executed or put away for life.

What excuses did I make? I posted verifiable facts.

Oh here we go. "Corrupt penal system". Again... how do you put a "corrupt" penal system out of business? Don't commit felonies. Simple. Yet so hard to grasp.

Is it really hard to not rob someone? Is it difficult to not steal? Is it hard to not shoot someone? Are drug dealers forced into the trade? Is there this irresistible urge to assault people? Any of this I have wrong?

And yet here we are again sympathetic to the plight of the felon and the victim is discarded right after the trial. The felons get advocates, free representation, free therapy, crying Karen's sobbing about their inhumane plight, focus groups, studies, etc. and the victims get zilch of that. All because of the absolute low expectations that permeate this society.

You wanna know how we can come to an agreement on "rehabilitation"? We put felons to work for minimum wage and make every dime go to the victim to pay off a fair restitution. This will also fill some of these jobs that we apparently need Central Americans to come here to fill.

Second option for some is an optional special military "rehabilitation" group focused on eventual entry into the armed forces for a set amount of time. Reserved for screened, acceptable, offenders with low level offenses and first timers only.

Deal?

Mayor Zohran Mamdani that the first city-owned grocery store – which carries a whopping $30 million expected price tag – won’t open until 2029.

Meanwhile Target is building a 150,000 sq ft retail store here, complete with the city building new access roads and installing traffic devices, that will open about a year and a half after it was announced. In what was previously a soybean field.

And this moron cannot open a grocery store in an existing location for three years.
Man... just a little rehabilitation is all that was needed here.
