Progressive ideology, in all it's forms, is about population reduction. The climate, abortion, gay/trans etc and on and on down the line.
Shifting the overton window (what is acceptable) requires overplaying your hand on ideas or policies outside of what is traditional/acceptable and pushing it as far as society will allow. Then when the pendulum swings back the other way, it doesn't swing back to where it started, and some, but not all that was pushed, which was previously considered unacceptable is accepted.

Why are you projecting your analysis of moderate voters in purple areas onto me? Because I explained how they think?
I haven't given a personal opinion, attack, or defense of a value or belief in this thread I don't believe. I'm explaining how culture works, generally, and how certain demographics and certain cultural stimuli have caused the typical social progression pattern to change (hopefully temporarily).
