I wonder how any innocent American citizen would feel if they were being investigated by the Federal government with unlimited funds, manpower, and information.

I am sure you would love the irs to audit your taxes.
I once worked a job in which we were audited by the VP of the company quite often. One time he audited and didnot find anything to complain about, so he kept looking till he could make something up.
Investigators are there to find something wrong. They are not there to prove innocence.
