Big fan of Dr. Carson. He grew up in a time when blacks were truly oppressed yet achieved great things.

Shelby Steele is another one that more blacks should listen to. He has been very forthcoming that until more black fathers are an integral part of their children's lives then nothing will change in regards to blacks achieving economic equality.

My closest black friends, both very intelligent and upper middle class, refer to him as an Uncle Tom. For no reason whatsoever

So just because a black man reaches any type of success or displays intelligence, he has to be white on the inside? Wow

That's not my standard.

That's the standard of mainstream black America. This particular joke/pejorative was mentioned by Larry Elder when he was asked what other blacks call him.

I'm sure the following people all have similar experiences:
David Webb
Shelby Steele
Allen West
Condoleeza Rice
Ben Carson
Herman Cain
Candace Owens
Coleman Hughes

In a similar breadth, some of the nastiest and most hurtful things I've been called as a gay man were not hurled at me by conservatives, or heterosexuals, or the ultra religious, but rather by other gays who can't reconcile that I'm both gay and conservative.

Liberals have rigid expectations of people based on skin color and orientation, and you'll see their true colors very quickly when you dare challenge the box they try to fit you in.

Carson doesn’t have much personality and puts me to sleep. He sometimes skates around questions in an attempt to be civil.

I much prefer listening to Larry elder or someone with similar passion.

This thread has left me with far more questions than answers.
But I appreciate the responses.

He should be on every panel discussing/debating racism. Also invited to testify in front of these BS senate reviews...if Candace Owens can be called to testify, he can.
