What does our constitution say about nato?
Posted on 1/18/26 at 4:49 pm to Jugbow
Says that all treaties are law of the land, so the Washington treaty is law. End of story.
Posted on 1/18/26 at 4:54 pm to uziyourillusion
That doesn’t mean all treaties last forever. It specifically says all valid treaties. The president has authority to negotiate.
Posted on 1/18/26 at 4:58 pm to uziyourillusion
So does everyone have to abide by that treaty?
Posted on 1/18/26 at 4:58 pm to Jugbow
And congress passed a law preventing him from unilaterally withdrawing from the treaty. It’s valid until the law is repealed.

Again, Australia, UK, Germany, Canada, France, formerly the USA is controlled by devil worshippers. And others of course.

I don’t know their legal frameworks, but probably? The 2% target is a guideline and not legally binding. This one of the areas where NATO admittedly does need updating to make this a requirement.

So if participants aren't fulfilling obligations.
What avenue for redress does the US have?
Or are you just giddy the only participant that's held to that standard the the US?

Which obligations aren’t being fulfilled? The only member to invoke the defense agreement is the US and NATO members m, even reluctantly, sent their troops to die along side ours in a futile attempt at nation building.
With the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, Europe has spent 2.5x as much as the US in Ukraine aid and since the US has virtually abandoned aid there, the amount keeps increasing.
Europe provides the US almost unlimited military access across the continent and a high degree of intelligence sharing.
Should they beef up their defense spending? Absolutely, and some have. But this idea that they’re leeching off the US and draining our resources is straight out of DJT’s delusions. The US benefits far more than anyone in this arrangement and it’s not even close.

What fool would consider China an ally?
(this is a rhetorical question)

Where did I say he was withdrawing? He still has ability to negotiate, hence why countries are now meeting 2%.
He did get out of NAFTA and created USMCA, which was another negotiation. The new deal dissolved the old one due to renegotiation.
My thread was that Canada should be removed from NATO as they are building a relationship, military and security, with a non member out of spite. China is the number one threat to the North Atlantic and world. Canada is being very stupid here. At minimum all of NATO should be concerned they are allowing the Chinese to further infiltrate the North Atlantic.

When your southern neighbor is talking about invading you and your neighbors, tariffing you over a trade deal THEY made, you’re probably desperate enough to get in bed with anyone. It’s evidence of DJTs failure as a president when allies of many decades are seeking deals with our adversaries because they have become more favorable and trustworthy than ours. No one wants to do business with an unpredictable maniac.

Or you’re simply a dumbass who is defending Canada and Mark Carney because you’ve been so conditioned to hate Trump. Trump wouldn’t be stirring shite with Canada if it wasn’t for treadu and now carney is taking it further. If they want defense from China they can GTFO of nato.

Trump should ban all trade with Canada until they come to heal.
