While the culture is making a fuss about names and history and revisionism, let's petition NASA to rename all the Planets. Why?
The Planets are all named after Roman-Pagan gods & goddesses (except for "Pluto" -- it was named after a Disney character.)
(Only kidding -- "Pluto" was said to be named after the Roman god of the Underworld -- who in Greek mythology was named Hades.)

What a retard.
Nice sarcasm meter, Jethro.

Canadians use the term “First Nations“ in reference to Native Americans. This mountain was renamed “First Peoples Mountain.”
Do you see the similarity in the terminology?

There was a hilarious debate about it on Nextdoor or maybe FB. You couldn't just operate under the normal-person assumption that it was named after, you know, actual coons, could you?
Likely lead by a bunch of intellectual giants. Picture the soccer Mom that went to Directional State U for an MRS degree and whose most important decision on a daily basis is if she get the 2% milk before or after picking Little Johnny up.

Gustavius Doane murdered 200 people in the Marias Massacre. Nothing should be named after him.
MLk was a womanizer that didn’t value females but for the services they rendered him. So should we rename all the streets? It might really bring down the murder rates in Urban areas though!

It’s always Hitler to these folks.

I don’t know much about Doane, or care. But renaming this mountain is just another example of the troublesome trend in today’s society, by which we find one bad act in a person’s background and demonize that person as a whole.
It is ridiculous.
As a third generation Aggie, I point to Lawrence Sullivan Ross.
And, yes, the hypocrisy of these people is perfectly demonstrated by Dr. King. I respect the things that the man did to give African-Americans (in reality) rights which they had previously held only in theory.
At the same time, I can recognize him as having any number of negative traits and stains in his history. Those negatives certainly do not negate his positive contributions.

They can all eat some rotten fruit. My ancestor was killed in an Indian uprising. No one gives a shite.

Yellowstone is offensive and must be banned, because its a slurred description of the hard workers that came from china to build the railroads in the west and relocated a lot of stone ballast to make it secure

History books, maps, globes... will include sticker sheets to cover up and rename offensive names and terms.
Manhattan was acquired by tricking natives. So we should rename it "Wypipobad Island."

Things have always been renamed throughout history. We rename things. It’s part of history. Renaming shite is part of our heritage.

No, it's not. It's part of lifelong politicians' do-nothing careers, and that's about it. Folks like John Lewis that served longer than most people lived, yet accomplished almost NO meaningful legislation, and mostly spent his time renaming buildings.
