Not a Chelsea fan but if I was I couldn't give a care if bringing in a quality striker would kill off Torres. Roman is just to proud to pull the plug on whole the Torres debacle. He will never become close to the player he once was so move on.

Who does Jonny Evans play for?

Well that's the point. If they have given up on Torres, Cavani is a great buy. If they are going to support Torres (which is kind of the way they were leaning for a while), then Cavani really is an odd signing.

Us. Don't remind me.

They are gonna succeed either way so it doesn't matter to me. I'd rather see them succeed with Torres bagging goals.

So STFU, Stu killer.
Honestly, this has nothing to do with Evans. Chelsea logic shining through again.

I wasn't trying to say anything logical. In fact, we've covered the Cavani thing and your knee shredding fandom keeps posting.

It is and it isn't. A team like Chelsea plays 50 games per year. You can't expect a striker to play all 50, and Lukaku isn't ready yet. I think both players could conceivably coexist, as they would have some tactical flexibility. If RDM wants Chelsea to be more direct, he can play both together. But some of their moves point to a finesse approach, which requires a finisher.

I'd love to see Cavani in the EPL, so if they must succeed, I'd rather see it with him. Never been a big Nando fan.

Wait, what? I HATE Evans.

Lukaku went on loan to West Brom so we know not to expect him to contribute this year.

You love Man U therefore you love the Mexican and the knee thrasher. Got it?

Which is a good move. But I wouldn't expect Lukaku to contribute at an elite level that Chelsea would require for a number of years. By the time Cavani is 30, we'll know whether Lukaku will work out, or Torres for that matter.

Kinda.

No. We all have players on our teams we can't stand.

Don't forget they have Sturridge who will also get very pissy if he isn't played.
Torres has never proven he can play alongside a second striker. RDM didn't fancy the 2 striker system last year and I can't imagine he will favor it this season with all of the width they have now.
Not to mention Cavani is also a loan striker. He is the focal point of Napoli's attack with Hamsik and Lavezzi right behind him. He really played poorly alongisde Suarez in the Olympics.
If they buy Cavani, either will have to live with being the #2 guy. Which, as you said, isn't that bad considering the sheer amount of games on Chelsea's schedule.
And please, nobody take this as me saying Cavani is a bad buy. He isn't. I just think Chelsea need to decide whether Torres is their guy or not. If he is, the deal doesn't make sense to me.

FWIW, I love players like Lukaku.
I just don't see why any Chelsea fans wouldn't want to get Cavani. Can't imagine Torres being rated higher than a Cavani.

Since when does buying a better striker than what's on your roster a move that doesn't make sense? Obviously Chelsea doesn't trust Torres and what if someone gets injured? Also Sturridge may be on his way to THFC as well.

It doesn't make sense if you are buying him to be #2. Like I've said like 4 times now, if they are buying him to be the starter, it's a great move.
