Don't forget they have Sturridge who will also get very pissy if he isn't played.
He's a decent back-up, but he has really poor decision making in the final third. I don't see him as a realistic option.

Torres has never proven he can play alongside a second striker. RDM didn't fancy the 2 striker system last year and I can't imagine he will favor it this season with all of the width they have now.
Which presents a problem. Torres can certainly play with a support striker, but he's never had to play off a targetman. But having both strikers offers RDM variation. I don't know what type of system he'll employ this year, but he has the option to do a lot of very interesting things. I would have loved to see what Ancelotti would do with these attacking talents.

FWIW, I love players like Lukaku.
Players like Lukaku are worth their weight in gold, but can you name a big target striker who started producing lots of goals before he was in his mid 20's?

Nope. They need their time to develop into goal-scorers, like you said.

I agree. I was just responding to your Chelsea depth reference.

And Cavani has never really been tested in a 2 striker system either. He was the focal point for Napoli, and really struggled with Uruguay in the Olympics alongside Suarez.

If we buy him, he starts IMO. Which isn't worth much since I didn't play with Clint Mathis.

So in summary, my point is:
If Chelsea buys Cavani, go ahead and ship Torres out while you can still get a little cash for him. His agent has already come out and said that Torres won't be happy as the second striker again. Chelsea can go out and invest the money in another young forward.

But I tried to draft you 47 times in our fantasy thread.

Yeah, but with all of the extra matches this year, there is enough games for two different strikers. I just hope it works out and we aren't discussing a move that never happens.
ETA:The presence of Cavani may boost Torres to work a little harder for his spot. If he doesn't, then we can ship him out. I want there to be as much competition as possible on the team.

Didn't want to start a new thread, so the transfer thread seemed like a good place.

Oh, Stoke. Making it rain.

Well then don't make false, dumb statements. After that, don't come to an opinion based off false statements.
What have I said that was false or dumb? I don't like him. He hasn't impressed when I've watched him and if he's not better than Suarez or an aging Forlan we don't need to be spending anywhere near 40m (at least) on him. Not that hard to understand.

Funny thing is that Randy loves Lukaku and he has sucked for Belgium
You guys are pathetic. I have never said Cavani trash I said I don't want him at Chelsea and he hasn't impressed when I've watched.
I also never said I love Lukaku I said he hasn't played near enough to make a judgement on him as a player.
But yea keep making stuff up so you queers can continue your circle jerk.

To be fair, that isn't Randy's point (I only know this because I read the Chelsea threads).
He did insinuate on the last page that he thought Cavani wasn't good, which is extremely naive. But he really wants CFC to throw their full support behind Torres.
Cavani would be the #1 guy on pretty much any club on the planet, which is why if he goes to CFC, it might be the death of Torres (good or bad, ya'll tell me).
Personally I would rather CFC not get Cavani because I want to see Torres succeed.
Dude don't burst their bubble. If they couldn't make up stuff about me they wouldn't know what to talk about.

Again, you must have seen nothing from him at Napoli the last two seasons. You'll be hard pressed to find a guy with a goal-to-app ratio that he has.

I mean I don't care a bit if you want to dog me or disagree with me or don't like me but at least do it for the right reasons.

You're right on both accounts and I've said as much. However, and again maybe I'm way off, but if we are going to spend that kind of money and bascially throw Torres under the bus I want either a very young can't miss stud or a guy that has done it at a higher level. Like I said to me his numbers are probably inflated playing on pretty much the most attacking team in Europe with two outstanding creative mids behind him. Chelsea play nothing like Napoli and the league is tougher. You don't score 60+ goals in 90 games without being good, I just don't think he's a good fit for Chelsea for a number of reasons.

What kind of striker with great numbers is going to excel at Chelsea? What would be a dream striker for you? (Not Nando.)

We aren't going to pay 40 million for him. In fact the numbers tossed around today were 20 million plus Raul Meireles. That would be a VERY fair price.
