Bundesliga- St. Pauli, located on the edge of Hamburg's red light district (Reeperbahn) where the Beatles got their start. "I was born in Liverpool but I grew up in Hamburg" John Lennon. Their fanbase reflects this rebellious attitude. If it helps, Paul Cagliuri played there.

France-Marseille. They have a great history and the city reminds me of New Orleans. Beautiful, dirty, and utterly unique. The fans are the most passionate in France.

Spain-Valencia. They play an entertaining brand of football and always seem to have one or two future Spanish stars on the team. The only problem is forget about ever winning a league title as La Liga is a two horse race. The best you can hope for is an appearance in the Champions League.

Italy-Bologna. Great city and amazing food. It is the epicenter of Italian cuisine (which is the best thing about Italy). My backup would be Fiorentina because their colors are purple and gold.

England-Leeds United. Great tradition and the situation is improving after a disastrous era. We should be in the Premiership in two to three years. Also, the Service Crew is by far the best firm in England. Still going strong despite police crackdowns. American Mike Grella plays for the team and is a fan favorite.

MLS-I support the Red Bulls because I live in New York. I will say that they do have a nice stadium. Too bad it's in Newark.

England: Spent some time in Europe last summer, 6 weeks in London. During my stay I learned that Londoners suck, therefore I chose to support a team they all hate, Liverpool. Plus Liverpool is known for having the loudest fans, and that carries weight too.

Spain: Atletico Madrid, they play a nonstop attacking style of football, and its easy to root for an underdog team with 1/3 the $$ of their hometown rivals, yet still manages to get results over Real.

Germany: Call me a bandwagon fair weather fan, but watch Ribery, Robben, Klose, Lahm, Muller, Gomez and Schweinsteiger play, and see if you aren't entertained. (Bayern Munich)

Italy: Roma

MLS: Don't care

C'mon, man. Pick somebody and go with it. I thought all 4 games that were on this weekend were mildly entertaining, with the possible exception of Houston / Toronto, and even that had fisticuffs in the second half.

I was thinking about following Udinese (after watching Alexis Sanchez and Isla play together for Chile) and because I like the phonetic sound of the club name.

And I'll support Espanyol in La Liga because they're Barca's inner-city rivals.

We'll see if Sanchez stays there. Udinese also had the leading scorer in Serie A, DiNatale.

I refuse to support any Eyetalian team, purely out of principal.

Though, if Dempsey joins Gooch at Milan, I may soften that stance.

I'd wait until August to decide. You may have lots of Americans on the move.

I think this is the correct answer so far.

I'm waiting for American movement as well, but I think you do need to pick one "Super Club" to root for for Champions League purposes. But you should ONLY pick one "Super Club". Since I can't stand any of the EPL's big four and I pretty much hate Italy, I'm left to choose between Bayern Munich, Barca, and Madrid. Since Madrid was General Franco's favorite team, they are out. I don't support the team of European fascism.

Barca and Bayern are the only possible choices for me due to political reasons (and I absolutely love how soccer dovetails with politics in Europe... I celebrate team's histories. Bayern was run by Jews before WWII so Hitler tried to stamp the team out of existence... I can totally get behind that sort of history). but I'm going with Barca due to the combination of politics and the fact I really like the Spanish national team. Sorry, Bayern.

MLS is set: San Jose.

In the EPL, my current leanings are (in this order) Fulham (if Dempsey stays), Everton (if they pick up Donovan it's probably them), Tottenham (partnered with San Jose, Harry Redknapp has been good with American media, and they play a good brand of football), another team that picks up an American.

Bundesliga, it's between Hannover (Dolo), Monchengladbach (Bradley), Schalke (Jones), or wherever Mesut Ozil is next year.

Ligue 1, I have trouble pulling for Sochaux after the World Cup, but I will pull for Davies. I liked Bordeaux with Chamakh and Gourcoff and Blanc but all could be gone this year. I'm still leaning there though, but Rennes and Marseille could happen.

La Liga: no clue. Seriously. No idea whatsoever.

Serie A: if Dempsey goes to Milan it's them no doubt. If not, Roma is an option, but it's definitely not going to be Juventus

Jesus Navas is a favorite of mine. I like Llorente too. I actually really like Sergio Ramos, which seems to be an unpopular decision. I probably like him b/c I prefer right back and he's one of the best and is most similar to me in size and such.

I like a ton of players that will be at Madrid to be honest. Kaka, Di Maria, Ramos. I don't know though.

ETA: forgive me for omitting the most important of them all, Ze Special One

well, navas plays for sevilla who are a good side. my 3rd team. i wish he'd see more time with spain, but what are you going to do. they are up and down, but they also have diego capel who is really good.
llorente is athletic bilbao. i really like him as well as he has been something different and played awesome the one match he saw time. i don't know anything about them besides they're basque (which as i'm not spanish, doesn't make an ounce of difference to me).
i know no one is going to take my opinion on ramos b/c of my attraction to his unbelivable hotness ( ) but he has had a fantastic tourney. and a pretty great season last year. i'm not going to plug rm b/c if you aren't going to like them, you aren't going to like them. they found me, and the past didn't factor into my decision. i'm by no means a glory hunter.

i would suggest watching sevilla eta: never mind!! hala madrid! hala madrid! just watch a couple of matches, you'll love them i promise!!
in my opinion, if you don't have a reason to dislike madrid besides the money reason, then just give them a try.

MLS : LA Galaxy. Grew up in PHX, and they are the closest team.

EPL: Chelsea. Visited West London in 2002, fan ever since.

Bundesliga: Energie Cottbus. Name alone.

Ligue 1:(or 3 ) Strasbourg. One city in France I visited that I liked. I would like PSG but the whole racist fans thing is a major turn off.

La Liga: Sporting Gijon. No real reason other than I like their colors and name. I always use them on Fifa.

Serie A: Bari. Been by the stadium, got the whole desert type thing going that I like, and most of all they have a chicken for a mascot. (Not a gay french chicken.)
